Bridges PCS is seeking to hire staff for our Extended School Year (ESY)
Special Education Summer program which runs from June 25 - July 26, 2012.
We are seeking to hire: three summer time Lead Special Education Teachers for three non-categorical special education classrooms. 1 for a level 4 special education classroom (8 students) and 2 for mixed level special education classrooms, levels 1 & 2 (8 - 10 students). We are also seeking to hire: 6 assistant teachers and 2 dedicated aides. The student population of this summer program will be preschool age exclusively (4 - 5 years old) and you must have work experience with preschool age children and children with special need to be hired for a position.
Bridges Public Charter School's mission is to provide a high quality early childhood educational program for all preschoolers, with and without special needs. The school's curriculum supports the development of the whole child through a balance of investigation, play, and instruction.
Qualifications for position:
Lead Teachers - Certification in special education or early childhood special education and a Bachelors degree; or a Masters degree in special education or early childhood special education; or a Masters degree in special education or early childhood special education and certification in special education.
Assistant Teachers & Dedicated Aides- minimum of High School diploma and have passed the Praxis ParaPro exam. Preferred Associates degree or higher in early childhood, general education or special education.
Job Summary:
Lead Teacher - will lead a non-categorical special education preschool classroom for students who require Extended School Year (ESY) services to address goals outlined on the ESY plan of their IEP. The summer time lead teacher will manage a team of two assistant teachers and a dedicated aide.
Duties and Responsibilities:
*Teach / Lead a non-categorical special education preschool classroom.
*Apply appropriate strategies to educate preschoolers with special needs, in compliance with State and Federal regulations.
*Develop and nurture the emotional, cognitive and social abilities of the preschoolers.
* Plan and maintain a program of instruction that is conducive to the attainment of individual students' ESY goals and objectives on their IEP using the school's curriculum.
*Interact with students in a polite, caring and respectful manner.
* Respond to student misbehavior appropriately and successfully.
* Demonstrate clear and accurate oral and written communication.
* Engage students in learning
* Monitor student progress toward achievement of instructional goals and write end of ESY progress reports.
* Maintains high standards of ethical behavior and confidentiality of student information.
* Demonstrates regular and predictable attendance.
* Work cooperatively with staff, students and parents.
Assistant Teacher - will support the lead teacher in managing a non-categorical special education preschool classroom for students who require Extended
School Year (ESY) services to address goals outlined on the ESY plan of their
IEP.
Dedicated Aide - will be assigned to work with one student primarily.

Salary and Benefits:
The position is part-time, starting June 25 - July 26, 2012. The hours are 8:00 am - 1:30 pm. Hourly rate is $25.00 a hour for Lead Teachers and $16.00 an hour for Assistant Teachers & Dedicated Aides. Orientation and training will occur prior to June 25, 2012.
