Matters arising Money in school/milk money Playground boards Pupil Parliament 20th November 2015 Minutes Kelly won the Christmas bauble competition from Crudie. Isla and Kelly’s mums have decided against car sharing. £40 raised from October’s Dress as you please went to Headway, a brain injury association. Letter is displayed on Pupil Parliament noticeboard. Teachers in P1-4: Mrs Young is our new teacher and pupils will be informed of when we get a start date for her. Laptops: Laptops still to be numbered. Big class will organise a workshop for the New Year. Mrs R showed everyone a sheet that they can add their names to if they need a new username and password to get on to the computers. The sheet will be displayed on the Pupil Parliament noticeboard. Mrs R asked everyone to support Parent Council events as the money raised may be put towards new computers in the school. The new line for milk is working well. Mrs R said that Taylor had been very upset the other day as some of his milk money had gone missing from his bag. Mrs R stressed the importance of keeping money safe and being responsible. Mrs R asked for suggestions on how we could address the problem. Harry thought people could put their money in their packed lunch box. Various people suggested having a wallet or purse to keep money in or a special pocket in their school bag. Isla thought people could pay their money at the same time as their dinner ticket or each person should have a jar that they keep their money in in the classroom. Inga thought the money could be given to the teacher. Mrs R asked Mrs G through to listen to the suggestions. It was decided that we should have another list that is done at the same time as the dinner list where pupils can hand in their money for their drink and it is noted on the list. Then Mrs G knows which pupils have already paid at lunchtime and she can hand out the drinks. This way pupils won’t have money hanging around all day. Mrs G will make up a new list ready for Monday. Mrs R said that the boards in the playground are looking a bit tatty. Pupils agreed. Abbi said that there are bits of Your Shop Charity: end of term dress as you please? Chickens Next meeting wood coming off them and someone could get hurt if they ran their hand over the top. It was also mentioned that when it is raining, if you put your back against the boards then paint comes off on to your clothes. Mrs R will speak to Mr Minty and get him to take them down. Mrs R put a note home yesterday reminding everyone about Your Shop on the 30th November. Mrs R explained that it is a shop in Banff that raises money for a different group each week. The week of the 30th is Crudie’s week. Mrs R asked pupils to have a clear out of anything that they didn’t want and bring it in for selling in Your Shop. Even if each pupil managed to bring in one item that would be fantastic. Please check with parents first before you bring it in. Money from Your Shop will go in to School Fund which pays for our trips and hopefully more computer equipment. Mrs R wondered if pupils wanted to do another dress as you please for charity as we have just recently done one for Children in Need. Only 6 pupils didn’t think we should so we have gone with the majority. Ideas for charity: Shelter: wear your slippers to school – 17 votes NSPCC: Bobble hat day – 10 votes Text Santa: wear a Christmas jumper – 3 votes After counting the votes, we will be supporting Shelter and wearing slippers to school on the 22nd December. Some pupils were concerned that they didn’t have slippers. Pupils can wear fancy shoes or fancy socks if that is the case. Slippers don’t have to be Christmas themed. Donation will be £1. The Nature Nurturers spoke to the school about their plans for having 2 chickens at Crudie. Abbi’s granddad will be donating a chicken coop and run. A rota will be made up for feeding and cleaning out the chickens. The group are hosting a competition which will be 50p to enter and you need to come up with ideas for the chicken’s names. The winner will get the first batch of eggs that is laid. Friday 4th December 2015 @ 9am in the hall
