Newsletter – Spring / Summer 2015 What is New at Paws in Motion Canine Rehabilitation? In January I was very pleased to be informed that I had completed the requirements and passed the exam for the Diploma in Canine Rehabilitation. What is so Special about a DogTread? Paws in Motion now has a DogTread treadmill. After working with both of my dogs on my ‘human’ treadmill, I quickly realised that the deck was too short for my larger dog, causing him to shuffle along like an old man. DogTread specifically manufacture treadmills for canine conditioning and rehabilitation, and my large size has a deck long enough for almost any dog. Why Should I Contact Paws In Motion Canine Rehabilitation? Because I can help you and your dog with: Reduction of pain and inflammation. Improving joint range of motion Improving muscle strength. Improving gait pattern. Improving balance reactions. Recovery from surgery. Improving fitness and endurance. Helping to prepare your dog for return to activity. Have you Seen my Facebook Page? This qualification is only available to Registered Physiotherapists and is a post-graduate programme consisting of an independent study module, two practical courses, spending 40 hours volunteering and observing in a veterinary clinic, being assessed on animal husbandry skills, completing an assignment on canine body language and aggression and completing an exam. Now that I have achieved my Diploma, I am taking further courses and seminars to build on my knowledge, assessment skills, and to allow me to offer further treatment options. Currently, I can offer a thorough assessment of your dog, and treatment options including manual and soft tissue therapy, low level laser therapy, acupuncture, and a wealth of exercises to improve your dogs strength, flexibility, balance, body awareness and conditioning.
