This course, taught by Laz Cabrera of Police Service Dogs, Inc., will teach prospective decoys
how to engage with a well-conditioned athlete...the police dog. Topics covered include:
 Psychology in dog training & canine communication
 How to get a dog to target various parts of the body
 Building the bite and out
 Decoying for a certification
 Engagement on moving and static subjects
 Teaching a dog to fight when confronted with aggression
Students will receive exposure to a variety of canine decoy equipment, including: bite suits,
civil suit, belgian sleeve, muzzle, and...NEWSPAPER BITES! Each student will leave with a
better understanding of how to build a dog to face the rigors of police work. The decoy will
be able to assist in training sessions and provide valuable input on the dog’s
performance. This class is a MUST for anyone who will be working with police dogs. Space is
limited to ten working teams. Tuition includes registration for one team consisting of one
decoy, one handler and one canine. Departments wishing to send more than one decoy per
team must register each additional decoy at $300 per person. Observer spots are available
but space is limited to 30 total spots. Venue location will be announced soon.
