The AKC’s Canine Good Citizen program is designed to test dogs and owners on the skills they need to behave
politely in public. This class will focus on teaching and practicing the exercises required for CGC certification –
including greeting a friendly stranger, sitting politely for petting, response to basic commands (sit, down,
stay, come), and loose leash walking.
**This is an intermediate level obedience class - dogs should have completed the Basic Manners Class, or
have a solid foundation in basic obedience skills prior to enrolling.

Location
Classes will be held at the BVS training facility in the Wal-Mart plaza in Wayne, WV – approximately 15
minutes from Huntington, off the 5th Street Exit on I-64. Our training area is indoors and climate controlled,
with padded non-slip flooring for dog and handler comfort.
Vaccinations
In order to attend classes, all dogs must be current on Rabies, DAPP, and Bordetella (kennel cough) vaccines
from a licensed veterinarian.
Children
For their safety, no children under 8 years of age are permitted in class. Children under 16 must be
accompanied by an adult.
Make-up classes
Due to the 6-week structure of the class, we are not able to offer make-up classes for dogs who are absent. If
you have a scheduling conflict, please let us know – we will do our best to work with you to come up with a
solution.
