March 2015 Dear Parents/Guardians, The music program at Eldorado is busy preparing for our spring concerts for all students from kindergarten to grade 8. As you know, Eldorado grew substantially over the past year and as such we grew to be the largest music program in the Peel District School Board! As a result of this growth, we will need to host four separate concerts during the month of April and May to accommodate our nearly 1100 students. We recognize that this will mean that some of you will be required to attend the school on more than one evening or day to see your children perform. We trust you will understand that our gymnasium is not large enough to host all of our students and their families at once. The following schedule will help you stay organized through these exciting performances. April 21, 2015 9:00 a.m. Kindergarten Concert 'Earth Day' Under the direction of Mrs.Tersch and the kindergarten staff students will be performing with an Earth Day theme. Please join us in the gym. April 30, 2015 6:30 p.m., ”Welcome to the Jungle” featuring our Grade 1 and 2 students (and Mrs. Gandhi's grade 2/3 class). Our primary students will be proud to perform in this exciting concert. May 4, 2015 1:00 p.m. All students will be involved with Music Monday. This will be a short performance of the song 'We Are One' along with a few additional music performances by our Eldorado Winds, Eldo-Orff Crew, as well as the Bronze and Silver Singers. This hour is when students throughout Canada will stop and perform at the same time to indicate their support for qualified music programs in our schools. (questions can be directed to Mrs.Norbury at extension 108) May 5, 2015 7:00 p.m. 'The Eldorado Grammy Awards' featuring our grade 6, 7 and 8 students. Tonight's the night we've all been waiting for. We will be honouring our favourite subject-MUSIC! Using special arrangements by Mrs. Norbury, the students will teach you the meaning of many musical terms while entertaining you through singing, playing and dancing. (questions can be directed to Mrs.Norbury at extension 108) May 6, 2015 6:30 p.m. 'Help! I Need A Vacation' featuring our grade 3, 4 and 5 students. Please somebody help me, I don’t know where to turn. Reading, writing, arithmetic, there’s just so much to learn. The tension is still mounting. I think I'm gonna crack. Help! I Need A Vacation. Come watch your children sing, dance and perform as they travel to many exciting places in our amazing world. (questions can be directed to Mrs. Pontarini at extension 108) As we continue to work on the material for our specific concerts, each music teacher will connect with you to advise of any costumes, props or other preparations that will be needed for your child. Thank you for your continued support of the music program and we look forward to seeing you at the shows!
