Blood Type Lab
Purpose:
To test for blood types using antibodies.
Hypothesis:
We will be able to successfully determine blood types using antibodies.
Materials:
Test Trays, 4 blood samples, antibodies A and B, and a tooth pick.
Procedure:
1) Put a drop of the blood sample in the testing trays.
2) put a drop of antibodies A in one sample and Antibodies B in the other
sample of blood.
3) mix it with a tooth pick.
4) observe what you saw.

Discussion:
She is blood type A because when we mix
antibodies A with the blood sample it started
to clump because the antibodies A found the
antigens A in the blood cell.
He is blood type B because when we mix
antibodies B with the blood sample started to
clump, therefore the antibodies B found the
antigens B in the blood cell.
He is blood type O because neither antibodies
A nor B found antigens in the blood cell.
He is blood type AB because the antibodies A
and B found the antigens A and B on the blood
cell.
Question 1: Explain the difference between a test where the blood
clumps and one that doesn’t.
A test where the blood clumps is when the antibodies find the antigens on the
blood cell and a test where it doesn’t clump is because the antibodies didn’t find the antigens
on the blood cell.
Question 2: Wiley is bleeding horribly. He and his buddies happen to
have blood transfusion equipment and are stranded on the moon
(no hospital nearby). His buddies need to give as much blood as
possible. But each can only give 1L of blood. How much blood
can they give him?
Wiley`s friend John is the only one who can give him blood because John is blood
type O. He can give Wiley blood because blood type O has no antigens on the
blood cell and can be given to anybody.

Conclusion:
He is blood type A+ because the antibodies
found the antigens on the blood cell. He will
be given A+, A-, O+ and OHe is blood type O because there are no
antigens on the blood cell. He will be given O+
and O-.
She is blood type AB because the antibodies
found the antigens A and B. She will be given
AB+, AB-, A-, B- and O-.
