Player of the Week #DMVPC #CouragePOW 97 Boys Red - Carlos Flores-Melgar...a dominant performance at left back with a goal and 3 assists...excellent service all weekend 02 Boys White Blaise Liess: Blaise played an outside back position for the first time and worked hard to learn his job quickly. He made good adjustments and used the tournament to work on his game and develop his ability to play defensively. 00 Boys White: Bryan Sigala maintained a high work rate and played consistently well as a central defender. He made adjustments when needed, playing every minute of every game will maintaining a high work rate. 01 Boys White - John Viers - - Played the full match on the back line in 3 of 4 games helping the team to go through the weekend without giving up a goal. John won tackles, read the game well, and it wasn't until the 3rd game of the weekend that he gave away a ball. He was rock solid all weekend. 99 Boys White - Sam Ramey -played almost every minute of the weekend at the #3. Sam was dynamic getting forward, provided great service from wide positions and set pieces, and scored the game winning goal against VYS. He was also focused on doing his defensive duties too. Always a two way player, Sam did well shutting down the right side of opponents and winning his 1v1 battles in every game this weekend. 00 Boys Red - Jacob Menke - A great quality about Jacob Menke is (what he presented this past weekend) what a competitor and a leader he is. He’s such a team player — he wants his teammates to all do well. When others weren’t playing well, Jacob pushed and encouraged them to get better. Everybody looked up to him. He was an outstanding leader. 00 Girls Red - Jordyn Hurley - tremendous work rate as a fullback in both attack and defense, consistent ball winner and tackler 97 Girls Red - Amy Krotine - no goals allowed in 3 halves, two break away saves to preserve draw in game 1 98 Girls Red - Maggie Bellinger - Anchored a back line that gave up only one goal and very few opportunities in three matches. Scored the game winner in the Semi on a full volley from a corner. 97 Girls White - Samantha Praul, team captain playing the #6 all weekend. Sammy scored a brilliant goal from 30+ yards on Saturday. In our toughest match, at halftime we felt we needed to raise the intensity and be more physical to keep ourselves in the game. Sammy did a great job leading by example and setting the tone in the middle of the field. Huge improvement in the second half and a great learning experience for the team. 99 Girls Red - Elizabeth "E" Hummel - scored a handful of goals and was an absolute nightmare for the opposition in the 7 and 11 spots en route to an undefeated weekend. 99 Girls White - Madison Coleman played GK guest player for us as she's a 00 W player from Mike Yeatts girls team. We only won one of our three games and her attitude as well as performance was excellent. Cindy Harkes from the ECNL McLean team came to me and Madison after the game and told her what a great goalie she is. Playing up this weekend for us I feel she really did a great job and helped our team throughout the whole weekend. 01 Girls White - Natalie Martin - was named captain for this year and lead by example. She played GK as well this weekend and really came up big during our semifinal saving 3 breakaways and a number of shots taken from our opposition. Our game went to penalties where our team missed our first three kicks but Natalie stepped up and had an amazing performance saving 3 penalty shots in a row which helped our team advance to the finals. Her positive attitude and leadership played a major role in the team’s success this weekend at the DMV Cup! 99 Girls Black - Patricia Fisher - one of my captains as player of the week for always being disciplined when it comes to doing her job on the field and working really hard in practice and always working to pick everybody up. She plays the #10 position and is always doing what she can for the team. During the DMV tournament this past weekend, she scored 3 goals. Two goals to get us into the tournament finals and 1 goal to help us win the DMV Cup. Additionally, Patricia injured her ankle during our second game and even though she was not physically at 100%, she was vital for us throughout the tournament. 02 Girls Red - Jenni Reyes - Jenni Reyes led by example at the DMV Cup. She was absolutely dominant in the #8 role in all 4 games over the weekend. She played "box to box" and created as many chances for us as she denied the opponent. Her distribution out of midfield was excellent and she was able to run at players all over the field while still slipping balls for 9, 7, and 11. Special attention should be put on her performance in her team's 2-0 final victory over McLean ECNL where she scored the game-winner and was instrumental throughout in helping her team maintain possession and regain it instant when lost. #JenniSchweinsteiger
