Each marking period, your grade is based on the following:
Tests, Projects, FALs
55%
Quizzes, MARS tasks, class work
35%
Homework
10%
Grading Scale:
A 90-100%
D 60-69%
B 80-89%
F Below 60%
C 70-79%
Homework is checked and stamped daily. Each assignment is worth 2 points.
o 2 Points are given for all work shown and done in pencil.
o 1 point given for answers only, work done in ink or incomplete assignment.
o 0 points are given for missing assignments or missing notebooks.
Daily homework will not be accepted late. This includes forgetting to bring your
book/notebook to class.
Tests are given at the end of each chapter or unit. Additional tests may be given midway in
the chapter. Tests are always announced in advance.
Quizzes are given for small parts of a chapter or on an area of focus. Generally quizzes are
announced in advance but occasionally may be a surprise.
Projects and reports will also be assigned. You will be given sufficient time to complete
them. Generally these count as a test grade.
Tests may be retaken once. You must write out all of the work for the problems or
explain your reasoning ON A SEPARATE SHEET OF PAPER. I will look them over
and we will schedule a date for retake. Retests are to be taken within two weeks of the
corrected test being returned. The last retake day will be announced.
Your notebook will be collected quarterly and graded according to the rubric. This is a test
grade.
You are required to keep track of your grades on the attached sheets. Tests, Quizzes, Math
Magazine grades, projects and other grades should be recorded. Daily homework is not
recorded.
Assignment sheets must be attached to the inside front cover of your notebook. These are
subject to change. While the sheets are posted on the website, changes to them may not be.
There is no excuse for not knowing the homework.
NWEA goal sheets should be attached to the back cover. Be aware of your strengths and
weaknesses and improve on them.
SUPPLIES are your responsibility!!!! It is your job to have sufficient pencils, paper, or
notebooks. You may only use a composition notebook for this class. You should have (and
bring to class) sufficient notebooks, pencils, glue or tape, red pens and whatever other
supplies you need.
We will set up the notebook in class. You are to maintain the structure.
