Ms. Loy’s Grading Policy and Expectations Each marking period, your grade is based on the following: Tests, Projects, FALs 55% Quizzes, MARS tasks, class work 35% Homework 10% Grading Scale: A 90-100% D 60-69% B 80-89% F Below 60% C 70-79% Homework is checked and stamped daily. Each assignment is worth 2 points. o 2 Points are given for all work shown and done in pencil. o 1 point given for answers only, work done in ink or incomplete assignment. o 0 points are given for missing assignments or missing notebooks. Daily homework will not be accepted late. This includes forgetting to bring your book/notebook to class. Tests are given at the end of each chapter or unit. Additional tests may be given midway in the chapter. Tests are always announced in advance. Quizzes are given for small parts of a chapter or on an area of focus. Generally quizzes are announced in advance but occasionally may be a surprise. Projects and reports will also be assigned. You will be given sufficient time to complete them. Generally these count as a test grade. Tests may be retaken once. You must write out all of the work for the problems or explain your reasoning ON A SEPARATE SHEET OF PAPER. I will look them over and we will schedule a date for retake. Retests are to be taken within two weeks of the corrected test being returned. The last retake day will be announced. Your notebook will be collected quarterly and graded according to the rubric. This is a test grade. You are required to keep track of your grades on the attached sheets. Tests, Quizzes, Math Magazine grades, projects and other grades should be recorded. Daily homework is not recorded. Assignment sheets must be attached to the inside front cover of your notebook. These are subject to change. While the sheets are posted on the website, changes to them may not be. There is no excuse for not knowing the homework. NWEA goal sheets should be attached to the back cover. Be aware of your strengths and weaknesses and improve on them. SUPPLIES are your responsibility!!!!
