SIGNATURE WORKS: STORY INNOVATION LAB ABORIGINAL AND TORRES STRAIT ISLANDER SIGNATURE WORKS STORY INNOVATION LAB 2016 Applications close: 14 February 2016 Event Dates: The four day lab will take place 29 April–2 May 2016 Location: Sydney, Australia About the opportunity The Innovation Lab will focus on exploring new Indigenous story ideas in collaboration with some 30 Indigenous artistic and creative professionals from across all artforms. Signature Works: Story Innovation Lab will challenge the orthodoxy of how art work is constructed while facilitating the opportunity for artists to be truly cross artform and take old forms to new levels. The evolution of the Australian arts canon relies on the ability of artists to voice the dynamism of the times they are immersed in; and to be supported to realise that vision through a range of platforms that broaden the reach for their creativity. The Innovation Lab will offer an entirely Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander space. It will be safe and conducive for collaboration between Indigenous artists, creative talents, producers and content commissioners. It is a unique opportunity for First Nations arts professionals to collaboratively create new ideas and concepts for works that will push forward sector thinking and understanding of signature works. The process will ensure that the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander arts sector define what stories will go on to become Indigenous signature works. This activity hopes to create a process that enables the Australia Council, the arts sector and industry to work in new ways with deeper understanding about how to engage with Indigenous arts and its intersection with the national and international arts landscape. What is included in the program Australia Council will arrange all accommodation, meals and economy travel Participants will receive a $500 participation fee.
