Learn to Farm Tuition Aid Overview Tuition for the Learn to Farm program is $18,000/year and covers less than half of what it costs to provide the program (which includes food and housing) to each student, with the remaining funds that are needed coming equally from the sale of the farm’s products and fundraising. There is an additional $500 book and tool fee that also serves as a deposit for the program. We count on our admitted students to work with us to determine what financial assistance they will need, if any, in order to attend the program. To the degree possible, tuition aid will be extended directly from The Farm School to individuals or families who meet generally accepted standards of need and/or would be eligible for certain established tuition benefit programs (please see below). Please know that we will consider your particular case carefully and do our best to make it possible for you to attend. Scholarship Program The Learn to Farm Scholarship Program intends to provide direct grants for tuition to those eligible for federal Pell Grants, Federal Supplemental Educational Opportunity Grants (FSEOG) and Americorps Segal Education Awards, as these funds are not available to Farm School students at this point. Typically, Pell Grants provide up to $6,000 to students who earned - or whose families earned, if they are dependents - less than $20,000 (sometimes more) in the previous year and who do not have significant assets; in addition, FSEOG can provide up to $4,000 more to students with significant need, for a potential total of $10,000 in this type of aid. Americorps Segal Education Awards provide funding at the same level as Pell grants. If you wish to apply, please indicate the kind of funding that you believe could be available to you on the Tuition Scholarship Application and fill in the general financial information requested. Work Study When possible, we offer $3,000 in Work Study to be used for tuition reduction to those that need it in order to attend. Work Study can be combined with any other financial aid or it can stand alone. If desired, please indicate so on the Tuition Scholarship Application and fill in the general financial information requested. Additional Aid If you still require financial assistance in order to attend, please indicate so on the Tuition Scholarship Application, note the amount you believe you CAN afford for tuition and fill in the general financial information requested, including, in particular, the final question.
