Office is located in Research Triangle Park, North Carolina, but successful candidate’s location may be open for negotiation.
Founded in 1982, the Land Trust Alliance is the national leader of more than 1,100 member land conservation organizations with its national office in Washington, DC and 70 staff across the country. Its mission is to save the places people love by strengthening land conservation across America.
The Alliance serves as the voice for land conservation on Capitol Hill; provides land trusts with the training and tools to strengthen their programs and impact; offers research, publications, and more than
300 workshops and webinars every year; and invests $3 million annually in building land trust capacity. It builds public support and elevates the quality of land trusts through accreditation, legal defense and communications strategies. The Alliance embraces a collaborative approach to leadership, engaging its members, partners and a variety of councils to inspire change and advance new initiatives.
The land trust community is crucial to the survival of our natural places. Land trusts are citizen-led, independent nonprofits dedicated to conserving wildlife habitat, farms, ranches, rivers, forests, parks, trails and urban green spaces. They range from large national groups with hundreds of staff to local, volunteer-led groups. Land trusts enrich the lives of people in communities throughout the country and have protected in excess of 50 million acres — an area larger than New England.
Over the past 10 years, the Land Trust Alliance has sought to transform the effectiveness of land conservation in America through a bold strategic plan with three goals:
increase the pace of conservation;
improve the quality of conservation; and
ensure the permanence of conservation.
Headquartered in Washington, DC, the Alliance also maintains field program offices in the Southeast,
Midwest, Northeast, and West regions. The Land Trust Alliance Southeast Program directly supports more than 170 land trusts in twelve states and two US territories.
