Mission and Major Goals
Making Conservation Land Trusts Stronger
To assist conservation land trusts in protecting land and water resources in Illinois.
 Provide continuing education and training for conservation land trusts.
 Advocate for strong statewide policy that benefits land conservation.
 Provide networking opportunities to leverage the power of conservation land
trusts and their members.
2015 Priorities
 Generate recommendations to ‘close the gaps’ in land trust coverage of the
state, based on the completed Illinois land trust coverage assessment
 Secure funding and advance the implementation of I-VIEW (the Statewide
Preserved Land Database)
 Develop a five-year budget forecast and an accompanying funding strategy
 Adopt a marketing and sustainability plan to transition the Hike App from the
start-up phase
 Identify a legislative sponsor for and seek introduction in the General
Assembly of the PSCC Land and Water Conservation Act of 2015
 Create a Conservation Land Trust Storybook that tells the story of Illinois Land
Trusts collectively and individually, for lobbying and other public relations
purposes
 Draft a proposed Amendment to Illinois’ conservation easement statute
 Support the Land Trust Alliance in the permanency of enhanced tax benefits
