Student Gallery Attendant Cadman Art Gallery Student Involvement POSITION SUMMARY: Under the supervision of the Gallery Supervisor, this student position performs duties required to ensure continued smooth operation of the Wilson K. Cadman Art Gallery and its two exhibition areas, hereby known as Cadman Art Gallery. The gallery has two functional exhibit spaces including the Main Gallery and outer display area referred to as the Looking Glass. Responsibilities include all areas directly related to the quality of the operation of the gallery including customer service, maintaining the cleanliness, security, visitor records, assisting with set-up and tear-down of displays, ongoing monitoring of activity in the gallery during hours of operation, and other duties as necessary and assigned. RESPONSIBILITIES 1.0 Maintain Security and Operation of Cadman Art Gallery a. Ensures that the gallery is properly closed and locked at the end of the shift b. Enforces policies regarding food, drinks and visitor expectations c. Monitors on a regular basis activity in the exhibit areas to ensure that all rules are being followed for the safety and enjoyment of all customers d. Maintains gallery supply inventory related to tools, hardware and additional equipment e. Communicates regularly with Gallery Supervisor on matters concerning the safety and/or operation of the Cadman Art Gallery 2.0 Deliver Quality Customer Service a. Maintains a cheerful attitude and demonstrates an eagerness to serve visitors to the gallery b. Is knowledgeable of current and upcoming exhibits in order to answer visitor questions or inquiries c. Maintains guest attendance records and encourages visitors to sign the guest book when one is provided d. Refreshes display materials, updates signage and exhibition promotional items 3.0 Preserves Exhibition Spaces a. Ensures that objects of art are protected from damage b. Maintains the cleanliness of exhibit areas c. Replaces and adjusts lighting as needed d. Reports any loss or damages of art to Gallery Supervisor e. Assists with the set-up and tear-down of annual competition exhibits and art displays as needed 4.0 Responsibilities to Gallery Supervisor November 2015 a. Keep supervisor fully informed of any events or conditions that might affect students, staff or visitors b. Serve as a communication link between students, staff and visitors c. Take initiative in suggesting and assisting with projects that might contribute to improving operations and procedures d. Keep all matters confidential e. Be supportive of supervisor, staff, Cadman Art Gallery and Student Involvement f. Carry out all tasks and responsibilities delegated by supervisor 5.0 Performs other duties as assigned and necessary a. Aid in event planning initiatives of the Cadman Art Gallery REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS 1.0 Education a. High school diploma or equivalent required. 2.0 Federal Work-Study a. Student Gallery Attendant positions are funded through the Federal Work-Study Program b. Gallery attendants must have been awarded a minimum of $3800 in work study funds 3.0 Scheduling a. Must be able to work during gallery hours of operation b. Availability must be Monday through Friday 4.0 Qualifications a. Professional in appearance b. Willingness and ability to work an established schedule c. Provide attention to detail d. Ability to work independently and without close supervision e. Dependable f. Knowledge of basic computer skills g. Good interpersonal communication skills 5.0 Physical a. Requires sustained seeing, hearing, and sitting b. Requires occasional carrying, feeling/touching, handling, holding, pulling, pushing, standing, stooping, bending, and walking c.
