SRES12-07 A Resolution to Establish an Ad Hoc Committee on Campus Safety WHEREAS, Campus safety is an important component of the student experience at Wright State; WHEREAS, Student government (Sg) is charged with representing, forwarding, and advocating for student interests; WHEREAS, Students have expressed an interest in Sg researching, discussing, and improving the safety of all persons on campus ; and WHEREAS, Sg held an open forum on campus safety on November 27, 2012, and discussed its proposed improvements to campus safety and the overall status of campus safety at Wright State University; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, By the Student Government of Wright State University here assembled, that: (1) Student government reaffirms its commitment to improving and protecting student safety; and (2) An Ad Hoc Committee on Campus Safety be created; and (a) The President of Student Government shall appoint a chairperson of this Ad Hoc Committee on Campus Safety by December 15th, 2012; (b) The chairperson shall select from among the campus community at least five additional individuals to sit on the committee, not more than three of whom shall be members of Student Government; (c) The chairperson shall make every reasonable effort to include faculty and staff in the committee and shall coordinate with the governing bodies of those populations, including but not limited to the Faculty Senate, the Undergraduate Staff Advisory Council, and the Classified Staff Advisory Council; (d) The chairperson shall report back to the Student Government at the last public meeting of each month, beginning in January, 2012, the recommendations of this committee; and (e) The Ad Hoc Committee on Campus Safety shall be dissolved at the end of the 2012-2013 academic year, unless extended by further resolution of the Sg Senate.
