Missouri Evergreen Sustainability Plan 2015 Mission Statement Missouri Evergreen brings together Missouri Public Libraries to strengthen and promote excellent library services to our member libraries and Missouri citizens. The Consortium helps realize the potential of member libraries by resource sharing , cost savings, and member collaboration. Name and Definition of the Consortium The Missouri Evergreen Consortium is an independent association of Missouri Public LIbraries. The consortium is an outgrowth of efforts to improve resource sharing between Missouri’s public libraries. The members of the consortium have agreed to share resources. Purpose of the Consortium The purpose of the Missouri Evergreen Consortium, hereinafter “the Consortium” is to encourage resource sharing among and between Missouri Public Libraries. The Consortium recognizes that the combined strength of member libraries creates increased opportunities by providing library services to Missouri citizens through resource sharing. It strives to meet those needs with courier service, a shared catalog, and the shared expertise of the member librarians assisted by the State Library. Yearly analyze resource sharing - looking at lender and borrower statistics Objective: Recruitment of New Members Brochures will be available to promote the Consortium - updated annually Analyze survey data for interest of public libraries. - November 2014 Look at size of library district to target medium sized and regional libraries. - annually Members will invite, encourage, and visit neighboring (regional) potential Consortium member libraries. - continually Members will be available to speak and promote the Consortium at library events. - continually Target promotion to libraries indicating a desire to migrate to Missouri Evergreen - 2015 Objective: Staffing for maintaining services Contact MOBIUS administration to evaluate workload and duties of staff - by June 2015 and annually thereafter Evaluate ongoing training for Consortium members - survey members for needs by June 2015 Staff will help with recruitment by giving demonstrations, visiting potential libraries, creating training videos, and explaining costs. Goal 2: Catalog/OPAC Clean-up Objective: Hire Part-time cataloger to work on clean-up Part-time cataloger housed at Scenic Regional for one year to work on catalog clean-up - 2015 Objective: Train Consortium member catalogers All catalogers will participate in online catalog training before migrating Member libraries will assist libraries with cataloging issues during and after migration process. Objective: Consortium staff will continue to work on cataloging issues Members will correspond with staff concerning cataloging issues. Members will use listserv and help desk to help with catalog issues. Objective: Library Catalog will be easy for all to use Create a mobile catalog app (if feasible) - 2015 Create guides for using catalog - 2015 Goal 3: Develop Administrative Structure and Governance Objective: To work with the state library and contract staff for continuity of services and administration of the Consortia Review job descriptions and priorities on a year to year basis to meet the needs of the membership Plan for staffing in conjunction with contract staff for future consortia growth Review Missouri Evergreen By-Laws on an annual basis to insure relevance to Missouri Evergreen membership and functions
