Dear Parent/Carer
Atherton Summer Market – 15 June
We will have a stall at Atherton Market this Saturday from 11am to 3pm. We are having a tombola
and will be selling cakes at our stall in the market so do pop by and say hello if you are passing.
Uniform
Please note there have been one or two slight changes to the PE kit required for the next school year.
From September onwards, all pupils are to have a school rugby shirt with logo plus football boots. If
your child started with us in September 2012 they can still use the rugby shirts they received at the
taster day last year. However, if they have outgrown them, you will need to purchase one of the new
style rugby shirts from our supplier at the Leigh Indoor Market. You can see a full list of our uniform
requirements on our website at www.athertoncommunityschool.com/uniform.
Cashless Catering
We are hoping to change to a cashless catering system from September this year which will give
increased security when it comes to handling cash transactions within the school and will help to
reduce queuing time at lunch. In order for your child to make use of this system you will be required
to sign a consent form allowing us to record a biometric measurement of your child’s finger (NB not a
fingerprint image). Further details will be sent out in the next few weeks.
Student Lockers
All students will have the opportunity to have a personal locker next school year. If your child wishes
to make use of a locker, you will need to send a £5 deposit to school. This is a refundable deposit that
will be returned to you once your child completes their education at ACS providing it is left in a clean
and undamaged condition. If your child would like to make use of a locker, please complete and
return the slip at the bottom of this letter together with a £5 deposit before the end of this school year.
Teachers’ Strike
You may have heard that a couple of the teachers’ unions are planning a strike on Thursday, 27 June.
Please note that ACS will remain open as usual on this day.
Inset Day
We will be having a staff inset day on Friday, 28 June. Please note that school will be closed on this
day.
