Imagine if you were given $100,000?
Would you spend it all at once? Would you put some of it in the bank? We’d like to teach you how to invest
it, so you might grow it. Through The Stock Market Game (SMG), participants will gain a fundamental
understanding of investing and how you might get your money to work for you. Guest Speakers will also
attend classes and present important business information for young investors and entrepreneurs.
Presenters in past sessions have represented businesses including Panera, United Bank and Ben & Jerry’s!
The Stock Market Game will also help you do better in school. When you participate in The Stock Market
Game, you are in a real-world situation where you practice the content and skills you’re taught in Math,
English/Language Arts, Social Studies, and other classes. Most importantly, The Stock Market Game will
help you develop positive money habits and prepare you for your future.
WHO:
5th grade students enrolled in South Windsor Public Schools - Space is limited to 24 students only!
(The first 24 students whose paperwork is received by Mr. Smith-Horn will be accepted.)
Deadline to return form and payment is Friday January 29, 2016 or earlier if enrollment is filled.
FYI – This class has filled to capacity in 2013, 2014 and 2015!
WHEN:
Ten [10] Sessions held on Wednesday evenings at TEMS from 6:15 PM – 8:00 PM, beginning
February 3rd with the final class on April 6th. Students will form teams of 2-5 students
during the first class.

In the event of inclement weather, classes will be cancelled if school is cancelled or dismissed early.
Unfortunately, make-up days are not feasible for this program and no refunds will be offered.

PARENT PERMISSION FORM
I give my permission for my daughter/son to participate in the Fifth Grade Stock Market
Game being held at Timothy Edwards Middle School beginning on Wednesday February 3,
2016 and continuing for ten sessions, with the final wrap-up session on April 6, 2016. This
program is offered only to 5th grade students enrolled in South Windsor Public Schools.
I have included cash or a check for $40.00 made out to TEMS. Students will be notified at
school if they are accepted and an email [please provide email below] will be sent to all parents
prior to the start of the first class.
I understand that make-up days due to illness, other commitments or inclement weather are
not feasible for this program, and no refunds will be offered.
