MOREY AFTER SCHOOL CLUBS – DESCRIPTIONS

A Morey After School Registration Form (bright PINK) is required in order to participate in After School Clubs.
The fee for After School Clubs is $75/semester. No student will be turned away for inability to pay. Full and
Partial Scholarships are available. Registration forms and Scholarship forms are available in Room 102. Clubs are
3:15-4:15 pm, unless otherwise noted. Most clubs begin the week of September 14.
Academic Zone – NEW!
Do your homework, quiet reading, play low voice level board games, or work on computers. Meghan Schmitt &
Jackie Reynders, Library, Mondays, Tuesdays, & Thursdays
Art Club
Explore a variety of different media! Do projects ranging from collaborative installations, paper sculptures,
photography, collage, drawing, painting, and more. Come and be creative! Gia Nold, Room 109, Tuesdays
Destination Imagination (DI)
Morey’s globally recognized DI program will form new teams this fall. Challenges include Technical, Science,
Structural, Fine Arts, Improvisation, and Service Learning. Teams are led by Morey parent volunteers.

Drama/Improv Club
We will begin with a focus on Improv, to help develop and hone your natural performance skills. Students will work
in short form Improv to develop sketches which you will perform throughout the school year. Drama club will be a
nurturing and secure environment where students can play and create freely developing content that matters to
them by smart, clean and bully-free means. Allison Learned, Auditorium, Wednesdays
Gardening & Cooking Club
Spend some time in the Morey garden and learn how to cook fresh produce. You will learn basic cooking skills,
how to adapt recipes to your taste, and simple ways to enjoy fresh fruits and vegetables. Each class will involve a
cooking activity and a related garden activity. Gigia Kolouch, Room 115, Wednesdays, 3:15-4:45pm
Minecraft Club
Minecraft is a video game composed of rough 3D objects that are arranged in a fixed grid pattern and represent
different materials, such as dirt, stone, various ores, water, and tree trunks. Players can move freely across the
world, but objects and items can only be placed at fixed locations relative to the grid. Players can gather these
blocks and place them elsewhere, thus allowing for various building projects. Kim Henderson, Room 211, Tuesdays
National Novel Writing Month Young Writers Program (NaNoWriMo YWP)
NaNoWriMo YWA happens every November! It's a fun, seat-of-your-pants writing event where the challenge is to
complete an entire novel in just 30 days. For one month, you get to lock away your inner editor, let your
imagination take over, and just create!
In the NaNoWriMo YWP club, we’ll start in September and October with brainstorming and workshopping
activities to develop ideas, characters, and plot outlines for our novels. November’s focus will primarily be on
writing as many words as possible to meet our goals. December meeting will be about editing and preparing our

Robotics Club
Robotics will be building and programming robots using Legos. Students will be introduced to engineering concepts
while they build cars, color sorters, and basketball shooters. After building students will learn the basics of
programming to make their robots move! Andrew Clark, Room 106, Mondays, 3:15-4:45pm
Rock Band Club – presented by Band Dynamics*
Learn to play awesome rock songs on guitar, bass, drums, keyboards, or vocals with a group. Perform as a group in
real rock concerts! All students are welcome! No experience required! *Separate fee: Fall Twelve-week Session:
$148. Partial and full scholarships are available! Chase Demos, Room 209, Wednesdays, 3:15-5:15 pm, Sept. 16th –
Dec. 9th
Speech & Debate Club
Speech and Debate will offer students the opportunity to develop their reading, writing, listening, and speaking
skills. We will compete in speech and debate competitions across the district and enhance our critical thinking
skills to promote civic competence. Jan Gilmore, Room 201, Thursdays, starts October 1
Sports Zone
Awesome sports fun – basketball, football, track, soccer, Frisbee, and more!

Student Council
Student Council is a group of student leaders in the school representing all three grades. These students both
model and provide opportunity for service and leadership in the school, the local community, and the global
community. Students are selected to be on Student Council based on application, expression of interest and
commitment, and teacher recommendation. Tricia Huth, Room 105, Thursdays. Applications due Wednesday,
9/16. Starts September 24
Swim Club (open swim)
Come have some fun swimming in the Morey pool! Gabby Lopez, Pool, Meet in Room 102, Wednesdays
Yearbook Club
Open to everyone! Learn how to design and create layouts, how to take fun and exciting photos, and how to write
snappy headlines and captions. Be part of something that will bring students and parents joy for years and years!
Opportunity to participate in Yearbook Club remotely (e.g., from home) for those unable to stay after school. Jay

Yoga Club
Beginners to advanced - come join us for a weekly bout of relaxation! This club will go over the fundamentals of
Vinyasa flow (the linking of body movement with breath), focusing on physical movement, yogic philosophy and
