These will account for 60% of the students’ final mark while the final exam will make up the remaining 40%. Material that is passed in late will be penalized 5%/day and after 5 days a mark of zero will be given. Biology is a study course and students are encouraged to read/review the material on a nightly basis. Materials: 1 binder or duo tang with paper, textbook, 1 pen/pencil, 30 cm ruler. Expectations: 1. Be on time. 2. Be prepared --- with proper supplies --- with homework completed 3. Electronic devices are not permitted. 4. Be respectful of all Attendance: It is imperative that students attend classes regularly. We cover a considerable amount of material each day so it is easy to fall behind. If a student is absent, an excuse is expected; as well, it is the student’s responsibility to make up any missed work including tests. Extra help is always available by arrangement. I am, however, usually in my classroom (Rm.208) in the morning by 8:00 and at noon and don’t mind giving extra help then unless I am preparing other work. Wikispace: Lessons/topics, as well as any other pertinent information relating to the course can be accessed at www.wardbiology.wikispaces.com. Power School: Although students marks are uploaded to this program/site regularly, they as of yet cannot be accessed by parents. As a result I will be sending home a monthly report that is be signed and returned. Parental Contact: Lastly, from time to time, it is necessary to contact parents/guardians concerning their son or daughter. On the area provided below, please attach a phone number that you can be reached at during the day, as well as an e-mail address if you have access to one. Email is often easier than playing phone tag. I can be contacted at jeffrey.ward@nbed.nb.ca or 357-4015.
