Prerequisites: ART 1103, ART 1203, and ART 1413 or instructor's permission A list of supplies required for the class is attached. INSTRUCTIONAL METHODS This will be a hands-on class, exploring a variety of techniques and media through the production of 2dimensional works of art. The instructor will demonstrate and work along with the students in the classroom, and expect the students to complete and create work outside the classroom in preparation for each class meeting. EXPECTED OUTCOMES Students may expect to touch on a multitude of watercolor techniques, including wet in wet, color filtering, wet on dry, dry brush, abstract, contemporary, and realism, as well as presentation and exhibition. EVALUATION Students will be evaluated through attendance, class participation, completed projects, and outside classroom assignments. Each project will be evaluated individually and rated according to creativity, adherence to specifications and requirements, craftsmanship, and timely submission of work. Late work will be penalized. In addition to weekly submissions, students must present a digital portfolio of work of all projects at the end of the semester. A=90-100 B=80-89 C=70-79 D=60-69 F=Below 60 ATTENDANCE Students are expected to be in class, on time, every day, and remain in class until dismissed. Most of my lectures and demonstrations will occur at the beginning of the class, with class work following, so be on time. If you must be absent, you are expected to make up any and all work in a timely manner. After 3 absences, your semester grade will be lowered for each successive absence. (photo 3) The Blue Masking tape seems to be better than the old brown stuff. (photo 4) The Frisket may be in a different bottle or brand. (photo 4) You also need a blow dryer acid free watercolor paper at least 14 x 18” a board larger than your paper....mine is 24 x 36...plywood or masonite are fine a water container at least as big as a 1# coffee can pencils, erasers etc, paper towels
