VISUAL ARTS 11-12 Art Foundations- Drawing and Painting PLO’s (Perceiving / Responding) It is expected that students will: Examine the relationship between the use of particular image-development strategies and the intended mood or message. Analyse ethical and legal considerations associated with the design of images Identify the impact of traditional and contemporary technologies on image development Justify interpretations of and preferences for selected images Use appropriate visual arts terminology in art criticism Use appropriate art terminology to discuss materials, technologies, and processes. Evaluate how content and form influence and are influenced by personal, historical, social, and cultural contexts. They will be encouraged to rediscover the joy of ‘making’. Letting go of their inner critic and cut, paste, draw, etc. for the joy of it. They will be required to hand in their best 10 compositions. September 29- Oct. 3 October 6- 31 Originality, Composition, Abstraction, Image Development, Collaboration Craftsmanship Drawing- Graphite-Charcoal Still-life –Simplification Original Image Development ,Composition, Simplification Students will complete a realistic drawing of a found object. They will then simplify the image and complete a larger than life charcoal representation of the object. Line, Value Contour means outline, and presents exterior edges of objects. A plain contour has a clean, connected line, no shading and emphasizes an open shell of the subject. Line 5 WaysStudents will create a line drawing using wire. Original Image Development Illustration They will recreate the line drawing as a crisp ink illustration. They will then re-create the image on found papers or other surfaces. They will then recreate the image as a watercolor composition. Finally, they will use their design on a clay slab.
