Description of Business Environment:
Lockheed Martin is developing its Information and Communications Technology (ICT)
presence significantly in the UK. It has ambitions to bid for, win and execute a number of
major UK Government ICT programmes. A key element of these programmes will involve
the management of ICT operations in existing customer estates (including third-party
services) and the introduction of a Lockheed Martin managed and delivered environment /
ICT enterprise; including the design, transition and operations of new services.
Specific Job Description:
An Infrastructure Engineer is required to join the Information and Communications
Technology (ICT), Technical Operations Engineering Group based at our London offices.
The successful candidate will be considered an expert within Microsoft System Center
Configuration and Operations Manager and have a proven hands on record for designing
and implementing medium to large infrastructures within government or financial secured
highly available environments. The successful candidate will have experience of working
under very general supervision, be proactive in taking ownership on team issues, be able
to manage own workload and mentor others in the team to cross-skill on-the-job. There
may be a requirement for out-of-hours support in exceptional circumstances.
Specific Job Description:
Plans, implements, tests, documents, and maintains enterprise-wide solutions to total
system or subsystems using internally created and/or off the shelf products. Analyzes and
identifies all or part of a company's existing or new peripheral, network, and
telecommunications systems requirements, taking into consideration the special
technology needs. Establishes functional and technical specifications and standards,
solves hardware/software interface problems, defines input/output parameters, and
ensures integration of the entire system or subsystem.
Required Skills:
 In depth Knowledge and experience of Microsoft System Centre Configuration
Manager and Operations Manager within a secure medium/large enterprise
environment – considered an expert
 In depth Knowledge and experience of scripting within a Microsoft environment, i.e.
PowerShell
 In depth Knowledge and experience of Windows Desktop & Server operating




systems – Windows Server 2008 R2/2012 R2/ Windows 8.1
In depth Knowledge and experience of the day to day management of Active
Directory including DNS and Group Policy Management
Experience of working within an ITIL based ITSM environment
Knowledge and experience of working within a Virtual Platform
Be able to communicate solutions through designs and illustrations, as well as,
capturing operating procedures for repeatable tasks
Desired Skills:
 Knowledge and experience of storage technologies
 Experience of VMware vSphere / vCloud, managing and maintaining VMWare View
environments
 Analytical and practical experience of TCP/IP networking, protocols and hardware
Standard Job Description:
Designs, develops, programs, installs, implements, conducts research for, and maintains
internal data processing computer systems and utilities, and/or for customers on a contract
basis. Analyzes internal or external customers' needs, and determines equipment and
software requirements for solutions to problems by means of automated systems;
develops customized solutions to customer/user problems. Establishes system
parameters and formats; ensures hardware/software compatibility; and coordinates and/or
modifies user requirements in terms of existing and projected computer capacity and
capabilities. May make programming changes as required to adapt or enhance existing or
new programs and/or utilities.
Maintains supplied software packages for internal users. Analyzes new hardware to
determine its need or application in the existing or proposed system; advises on new
techniques and estimated costs associated with new or revised programs and utilities,
taking into consideration personnel, time, and hardware requirements, and makes trade-off
analyses; develops general and detailed documentation describing system specifications
and operating instructions; and revises existing systems and procedures to correct
deficiencies and maintain more effective data handling, conversion, input/output
requirements, and storage.
Typical Minimum Education & Experience:
Ideally require a Bachelors degree from an accredited college and capability typically
achieved through proven professional experience. Will also consider individuals with
equivalent experience / combined education.
