NorthBay Healthcare Residency
The NorthBay Pharmacy Residency program is a one-year PGY1 residency that integrates acute
care experiences with teaching and precepting
development. The resident will be exposed to
several different practice settings in a community
hospital as well as academia associated with Touro
University. This program is designed to enhance the
resident’s appreciation of the art of teaching and
provide effective education to ensure patient safety.
The acute care component focuses on implementing
the highest quality of patient care by utilizing the
interdisciplinary
approach,
developing
and
enhancing pharmacy protocols, and managing
patient outcome measures in the setting of a
decentralized pharmacy. The teaching component is
a longitudinal experience that introduces the resident to different approaches of effective
learning by participating in teaching seminars, delivering lectures, and leading small group
discussions. By completing a Touro University residency at NorthBay, the resident will obtain a
Teaching Certificate as well as the training to sit for the BCPS exam, making the resident a very
competitive candidate for any practice setting, both academic and hospital.
