The Foresight Report (2010) highlights the challenges to the global food production system that the first half of the 21st century will bring. The report identifies that these challenges cannot be addressed by the continuation of existing approaches to increasing food production alone. There is also a need to produce more whilst improving the sustainability of production techniques. These new challenges must be met through the development of new technologies and their application to agriculture. Following the success of the Tomorrow, Today exhibition of innovation in agriculture, which is now a regular feature at the Royal Welsh Show, Farming Connect are now launching the search for new innovations to be showcased at the 2015 show. The exhibition, which is run in partnership between the Royal Welsh Agricultural Society and the Welsh Government Farming Connect Programme aims to promote and encourage innovation in the UK agriculture industry and transfer new technologies and the latest research to a grass roots level. Eligibility criteria The Society is offering interested individuals, companies and organisations involved in research, product development or with an innovative idea the opportunity to participate in the Tomorrow, Today exhibition of innovation in agriculture. The following themes have been identified: Apps Genomics/breeding Renewables GPS Informatics Waste Plant breeding Health/functional foods Farm security Engineering/machinery solutions Latest from overseas Please note - The Tomorrow, Today Exhibition Working Group is prepared to consider innovations/latest technologies not included under the above headings. Successful applicants will be provided with space to exhibit within the exhibition, which will be branded and marketed as the Tomorrow, Today exhibition. The cost of exhibition is being borne by the Society and exhibition partners and the cost to exhibitors will, therefore, be significantly subsidised. Exhibition space must be fully utilised and manned for the four days of the Show and each space will contain a display area for your product. The exhibition will be stewarded by Society representatives during the duration of the event. It is compulsory that exhibitors provide support in kind to visitors, for example, vouchers, free samples, free merchandise, free downloads etc. Exhibitors are also expected to promote the Exhibition via social media.
