There are four types of Laboratory Visitors:
1.
FM Contractors booked through FM Assist- for example plumbers and electricians employed by Brookfield.
2.
Company Representative Contractors who are organised by yourselves to commission and repair equipment.
3.
Other short term visitors to laboratories.(ie doing inspections audits etc)
4.
Long term visitors- doing experiments in the lab.
For cases 1 and 2, there are two folders set up on level 3 (and also in TETB Victor’s office)- yellow for
FM Contractors and blue for Company Representative Contractors.
PROCEDURE FOR FM CONTRACTORS
Contractor to sign the Visitor Book.
Perform visitor induction (HS630) – this only needs to done once per year for each contractor.
If the contractor is new, record his/her name and other details as required in the log sheet in the front of the folder.
If the Contractor is doing work in the laboratory, fill in a Clearance Certificate(HS700)
File all the forms in the YELLOW FOLDER.
PROCEDURE FOR COMPANY REPRESENTATIVE CONTRACTORS
Before the contractor comes to the University, email a copy of the Contractor Evaluation
Checklist HS803 to the company. Have them fill in sections 1 and 2 and consider section 3.
Some companies may not be able to provide the information required in section 3. This only needs to be done once per year.
Contractor to sign Visitor Book.
Perform visitor induction (HS630) – this only needs to done once per year for each contractor.
If the contractor is new, record his/her name and other details as required in the log sheet in the front of the folder.
If the company is new, record the name and other details required in the Contractor
Evaluation Section.
File all forms in the BLUE FOLDER.
OTHER SHORT TERM VISITORS
Fill in the sign in book
Perform visitor induction (HS630)
File all forms in filing cabinet L3, in Victors office (maybe in black file)
LONG TERM VISITORS
Fill in the sign in book on each occasion.
Requirements as per white safety folder документ1
