Do you like meeting people and making them feel welcome? Are you one of those people who feel comfortable striking up a friendly conversation with someone you may not have met before?
Then you may be of great assistance to your parish as a member of the Ushers
Ministry!
The Ushers Ministry is in great need of additional members on either a full time, part time, or rotational basis.
The work of our ministry is very rewarding as we work hard to make every single parishioner that walks into the Cathedral feel welcomed as a part of our congregation.
Could you please help?
WHAT WE DO
These are just a few of the things that the ladies and gentlemen serving as ushers do:
We greet everyone that enters the Cathedral with a cheerful smile and a hearty handshake
We guide parishioners to seats, as needed, particularly during highly attended Masses
We manage the important job of taking up and securing the collection
We guide our parishioners to
Communion
We hand out the bulletin and other important Parish communications, as needed
We prepare ourselves for any circumstance that may arise, including medical emergencies, guiding during power failures or emergency evacuations
We ensure the church is ready and presentable for the next
Mass
We help our parishioners and visitors navigate the Cathedral
In general, we ensure that the needs of our parishioners are met as much as we possibly can
MINISTRY CONSIDERATIONS
Our ushers are asked to:
Be neatly dressed
Always portray a friendly face to all who come to worship
Be energetic and hospitable
Be very thoughtful and understanding
Manifest a spiritual quality and always strive to deepen our faith
And, above all, strive to make our parish warm and inviting
