The Art of Persuasion: Introduction to High School Speech and Argumentation – for Lincoln Douglas, Public Forum and Classic Debaters. We are excited to launch our first camp experience for students interested in learning about or improving their skills in Lincoln Douglas, Public Forum, and Classic Debate. This session will also cover beginning extemporaneous speaking. We are lucky to have two veteran coaches leading this session – Andy Charrier, Director of Debate for Edina High School and Zach Prax, Head Coach for Chanhassen High School. Both Andy and Zach have years of experience teaching both beginners and nationally recognized student competitors. Students will learn how to craft an effective argument, they will also learn about research, critical analysis of texts, and rhetorical skills to improve their public speaking. Students will also learn about flowing (note taking during rounds) and cross examination. It will also be fun! Be prepared for some great competition and debate games – all conducted by two incredibly talented coaches. Dates: Monday July 7th – Saturday July 12th.
