Press release New hybrid ceramic CAD/CAM block for chairside and laboratory use Precision, strength and flexibility: GC presents CERASMART GC is globally famous for being a partner for dentists and dental technicians alike, offering dental surgeries and laboratories innovative and high-quality solutions that share a single focus: the well-being of the patient. Its extensive product portfolio makes GC one of the leading manufacturers for a broad range of dental consumables. With CERASMART, GC made a new step in the world of digital dentistry, where the company’s vision is to soon become one of the top players. Speed, modularity, flexibility – these are the attributes that increasingly characterise present-day dentistry. Dentists and dental technicians often work hand in hand, but more often than not they are subject to immense time pressure. This is why intelligent solutions are needed that streamline the workflow and optimise the individual steps in the dental practice. GC, an established Japanese dental manufacturer, has always been known for its ability to spot the trends early and to create innovative products perfectly adapted to them – in order to not only support users, but to also benefit patients. The materials and systems offered by GC cover different areas within restorative dentistry, from direct to indirect, chairside to laboratory. GC is now entering a new field, where the company’s vision is to soon become one of the leading players: digital dentistry. Simple CAD/CAM restorations CERASMART, GC’s first CAD/CAM hybrid ceramic block, can equally be used chairside in the surgery or milled in the laboratory. The result is a more efficient workflow that delivers time and cost savings. Every CERASMART block features the best of hybrid technology; building on GC’s combined strengths in ceramic and composite materials. As a result, CERASMART is suitable for the production of all metal-free aesthetic indirect restorations, such as inlays/onlays, crowns and veneers. Made from force-absorbing hybrid ceramics CERASMART offers the highest flexural strength in its category* and still provides a significant flexibility to the restoration, which makes it a particularly interesting material for some clinical cases where the ability to buffer masticatory pressure is needed – such as for implant crowns or restorations in patients with bruxism and/or generalized tooth wear. It also allows a quick and precise milling, resulting in a very accurate marginal adaptation. CERASMART is based on a unique high pressure production process and features ultra-fine homogeneously dispersed fillers, to ensure a long-lasting shine and less wear to the opposing dentition. This hybrid ceramic block makes it also possible to reach a high level of aesthetics, thanks to its balanced opalescence and fluorescence. Moreover it facilitates the follow-up thanks to its high level of radiopacity. Furthermore, CERASMART is offered as a complete solution, as it can be associated with a primer (Ceramic Primer II) and a filled characterisation glaze (Optiglaze color) which brings durable staining to restorations. In case characterisation is not needed, a simple polishing with GC DiaPolisher Paste will provide an incomparable shine. With CERASMART, GC fully enters into the Smart Age, where the right type of CAD/CAM material can be selected for each specific clinical situation!
