Patient Panel Meeting Wed 24th September 2014 Present : Ian Davies, Raymond Davison, Jean Smith, Joyce Bainbridge, Alf Potts, Jennifer Allen, Anne Ruffell Apologies : None received A warm welcome was extended to Jennifer, our newest member of the group. Minutes of last meeting : Agreed. Practice News : 1 Sadly Dr Parry lost her baby boy at end of August. She is hoping to return to work mid October and in the meantime we are relying on locum GPs to fill the gaps. 2 Dr Toft might be leaving us as she wants to go travelling for a while, although she will give us 3 month’s notice 3 Due to a few problems which needed addressing the lease has still not been formally signed. Dr Sheth informed us recently that he might have 2 interested buyers for the property and may be giving us notice to vacate the building. Anne is liaising with the practice solicitor and will keep the group informed. There are vacant rooms at Riverview Health Centre and if notice is given we will look into the possibility of transferring. Therefore any further expenditure on new signage and telephone system has been put on hold. 4 We lost a fridge full of vaccines last week due to sockets going off in room 8. We can claim from the insurance company but there is a more serious matter to ascertain exactly what happened. Anne will keep the group updated on progress with the building. 5 A comment box has been installed in the reception foyer. Any comments or reasonable suggestions on how we can improve the service we provide are welcome. 6 Some of the treatment rooms have been redecorated. 7 Diane Armstrong, Elderly Care Specialist Nurse is retiring and we are having a small retirement lunch on Tuesday 30th September. All members of our panel are welcome to come along. SCCG East Locality There is approx. £100k allocated to the East Locality to use on improvements. If any of the panel have any ideas on how this could be spent please let Anne know. Riverview Out of Hours Pilot This is currently being evaluated by the Executive Board and it is hoped to recommence this year. However it is hoped that the service could be better and appointments be directly bookable by the GP instead of patients having to go through NHS 111. Integrated Team The locality is looking at Integrated Teams to provide more seamless care in both primary, secondary and community settings. Annual General Meeting None of the panel attended the meeting yesterday. Mr Davies and Mr Davison expressed some dissatisfaction with the content of these meetings. They feel the real issues are not addressed. Social Event We will arrange our next panel night out in the next few weeks. Anne will get in touch with the panel. Hopefully Dr Parry might be able to join us. Date and Time of Next Meeting Wednesday 26th November at 5.30pm.
