Start Right Limerick is a project that seeks to develop better learning, health and well-being outcomes for children aged from birth to six years. Through a continuum of services for the ‘whole child’, Start Right Limerick seeks to link and integrate the child, family, local services and communities in the South side of Limerick (Our Lady of Lourdes, Our Lady Queen of Peace and
Southill).
By working with families, Early Years practitioners, local services and service providers, Start Right seeks to:
Enhance the capacity of parents, families and services to work collaboratively to improve the health and well-being of children, with a particular focus on learning and development
&
Develop integrated work practices and resource sharing strategies in the Early Years sector across statutory, community and voluntary agencies
In order to achieve these two primary objectives, Start Right works closely with families, practitioners and service providers to:
1.
Increase parental participation in their child’s early care, play and education in the home, in the early childhood setting, in preschool and in the infant and junior classes of primary school
2.
Encourage greater continuity and collaboration in transitions at key stages in the child’s life
3.
Enhance collaborative work practices in the Early Years sector among and between practitioners, other service providers (e.g. health), parents and families.
4.
Enhance ECCE practitioner capacity to develop and implement inclusive practice
5.
Increase the number of children with special needs accessing early years provision
6.
Facilitate a greater uptake and more appropriate use of services
