Generally, we discuss, explore, and follow media trends, both with respect to consumption and creation. In 2013, we created video and animation projects for Middle School assemblies using a variety of technology including: iPads, Meez, Flipbook, iMovie, ComicLife, GarageBand, iPhoto, Photoshop, Explain Everything, Crazy Talk, Go Animate, Common Craft, and Scratch. In 2014, we plan to explore coding and the possibility of app creation. Next year, we will focus mainly on LEDs. We'll start off learning the basics of Arduino programming, then over time we'll progress into more advanced code. Along with that we will learn wiring, which is an essential part to the programming. The goal will be to create boards of LED that serve a specific creative purpose. They could be pure visual design, with moving images or text. They could also be interactive, allowing people to play games, or change the visual images on the board Do you love to sing? Whether by yourself, or in two's? If this is true, then Singing Knights is the place for you! Singing Knights meets weekly for the first and third trimester to work on music for concerts and other special performances throughout the year. We sing music from Broadway, the movies and TV, pop tunes, oldies, folk tunes, special holiday music and even the occasional classical piece, for the extra challenge! Students can suggest songs to sing. We learn part singing (so we can sing in harmony), and sometimes even add choreography. As long as you love to sing, Singing Knights is the place for you! No experience is necessary, no auditions are held, and everyone is welcome! Love to read? Want to be with others who enjoy talking about books? In lit club, we give "book talks" about our favorite books. We read and discuss a couple of books during the year and have trivia contests. We try to have lunch with an author once during the year. We meet every other week for the entire year. Eighth graders who were literary club members last year are welcome to continue. Any other eighth graders who would like to join should talk to Ms. Brooks. Seventh graders join during winter electives round through invitation. If interested, students should see Ms. Brooks. The BB&N Players, an 8th grade Improv Troupe, is part of the BB&N Community. The troupe: o Serves as assembly emcees o Assists faculty with skits for various school events o Admission events o Advisory topics and projects (PSAs, etc.) o All school events Auditions are held each May for the following school year. Chamber music ensembles are performance groups that meet bi-weekly and rehearse standard classical repertoire for performance Auditions are open to students who play an orchestral instrument or piano.
