ADDITIONS TO AGENDA
Tanna Worrell, Holistic Health Coach, is our presenter today,
WCEA Sections Updates (Lighthouse, Southern, Board)

Conference & Awards: WCEA will discuss partnering with MN’s ComEd conference.at their upcoming Feb.
meeting. “Think Globally – Lead Locally: The Time for Impact is Now” in Bloomington, MN, Sept. 30- Oct. 3.
2015.

Conference ideas for next year as shown in September’s minutes – what you want in next year’s
conference – Some ideas that members would like to see at next year’s conference are: LERN & CPP
course, workshops on time management, CE basics, catalog info, budgets, fundraisers and sessions based
on schools by size

Website & Survey’s – no news to report

State Legacy – Brief update from WCEA Conference. Speakers on topics you asked for (LERN, CE Basics,
Catalog information, Difficult situations/people, state legislation and DPI representatives updated on progress on
CE Funding Freeze and implications.)
DISCUSSION TOPICS

ICEPAC documents requested to be sent via an attachment in our emails so all types of computer systems can
then download them.

Mentor Program for new ComEd sites: Rebekah is willing to help a mentoring program move forward in our
region. This program will encourage more collaboration and sharing of program ideas. Can a document be
created to pair up mentors/mentees. Discussion was also based on an incentive program to help with any issues
to collaboration (travel expenses, long distance phone calls, other from scholarship fund??). Also recommended
was an acknowledgement of mentors/mentees during Conference/in newsletter/WCEA website to show
appreciation and highlight how membership helps local programming.

Instructor Appreciation Luncheon questions arose. Some practices show appreciation during Volunteer luncheon
at end of year/before and recognize during spring concert/with special recognition in local paper/Certification
note after a long-time leader retires. A Custodian Appreciation item was also noted, one site provides treats to
custodians.

Background Checks for Instructors – best practice. Eventually districts may be having volunteers, employees,
other pay for their own checks.

Training topics at Meetings – Host site provides a CE instructor or speaker on a CE topic to lead a discussion
or activity to members in attendance. Ideas might include something that is a specialty in our area. Or a current
topic.
