OFSTED VISIT
As you are all aware we had a visit from Miss Potter and Mr Shutt from Ofsted on the
12th and 13th November. With tonight’s newsletter is a copy of their full report and an
accompanying letter.
Thank you to everyone who contributed so positively to the visit, your help and hard
work was very much appreciated.
BUILDING MATTERS
Thank you to Reception children and teachers for moving across to The Ark whilst their
rewiring was done, I know it wasn’t easy! Class 2 are in the Ark at the moment and will
be there on Monday too. On Tuesday the fun really begins as we move Nursery over for
4 days!
A really big thank you to Mrs Kidd, Mrs Stoneley and Mrs Biddle for working extra
hours to ensure that everything is cleaned up and ready for the children.
PARISH CHRISTMAS FAIR
Thank you to all who supported the Parish Fair particularly those who helped on stalls or
donated books, toys, prizes and bottles in for the Parish Fair. A full list of winners is
displayed in the office window. Two prizes remain to be claimed.
SAINT OF THE WEEK
Saturday is the feast day of St Andrew, the patron saint of Scotland. Happy feast day
to all of Scots descent.
CHRISTMAS EVENTS
Please take note of all the Christmas events in the diary section of the newsletter.
KS2 Pantomime KS2 children need to be on the church car park for 6.30pm on
Thursday 5th December. We should be back at approx 10.25pm!
KS1 Christmas treats We are allowed to send 30 children to the Pantomime at the
Hub this year so Class 1 are going to the pantomime and Class 2 are having Christmas
film club on December 10th in the morning.
KS1 Nativity If your child is in Class 1 or Class 2 they will be in the KS1 Nativity on
Thursday 12th December, there will be two performances at 2pm and at 6pm. We can
only have 100 people in the Hall so admittance will be by programme only. Programmes
cost £1 and will be on sale from Tuesday 3rd.
Christmas Dinner is on Friday 13th December!!
Christmas Music Concert is also on 13th December at 2.45pm in the school Hall, come
along, there is nothing more festive than Christmas carols played by a brass band!
EYFS Nativity if your child is in Nursery or Reception they will be in the EYFS
Nativity on Tuesday 17th December at 10.30am, again admittance will be by
programme only and programmes for this play will be on sale from Tuesday 10 th
December also costing £1.
Carol Singing and Hattersley Brass at Tesco We have been invited to sing and play
carols in the foyer at Tescos on Wednesday 18th December. We will be taking some
children to sing in the afternoon and the Hattersley Brass Band to play after school.
Come and have a listen!
MINI VINNIES
Mrs Quirke is very keen to start up a Mini Vinnies group at our school. Mini Vinnies are
the junior branch of the SVP (St Vincent de Paul Society). Just like the adult SVP
members, Mini Vinnies meet regularly, pray, discuss scripture and plan activities to help
others. They make a pledge and receive certificates and badges. A lot of children have
expressed an interest in joining and have brought letters home to be signed. There are
leaflets in the Entrance Hall for anyone wanting further information.
DIOCESAN BUILDING FUND
Thank you to those who have contributed to the Diocesan Building Fund. Reminders will
be sent soon to those who haven’t yet. The Diocese asks us for a donation of £15 from
each family to fund large buildings works in schools across the diocese. We have
benefited from this in the past with the building of The Ark and the demolition of the
old Nursery building and our new windows. The rewiring work has also been part funded
by this fund. Can I urge you all to contribute as we have to pay from the school budget
if not enough donations are received and this disadvantages all our children. If you wish
to pay £5 a term or need help with the very complicated forms please pop into school
and ask at the office.
MUSICAL INSTRUMENTS
Could we remind children that it is very hard to practice if they leave their instruments
at home! We didn’t used to mind phoning for the odd forgotten instrument but this
week it has been an extraordinary number. Music is always on a Friday (and Wednesday
if you are in Hattersley Junior Brass). Please Remember!
Carol Service at All SaintsThursday Class 4 will be representing us at the carol
service at All Saints Catholic College on 19th December.
SPORT MATTERS
Andy’s Sports Club will be rugby and football this half term. This club is open to all
Junior children (Year 3, 4, 5 and 6) and takes place on a Tuesday 3.30-4.30pm. A letter
with permission slip has already gone home for this club.
Cheerleading Cheerleading is on every Wednesday 3.30-4.30pm
Swimming All year 5 and 6 children will be going swimming on Monday afternoons. Girls
need a one piece swimsuit and boys need trunks, not shorts.
EYFS and KS1 Christmas Party Nursery, Reception, Class 1 and Class2 will be having
their Christmas Party in the afternoon of 19th December. They may wear their party
clothes all day. THERE WILL BE NO MORNING SESSION FOR NURSERY
CHILDREN THIS DAY. THEY NEED TO COME TO SCHOOL FOR 1.15PM IN THEIR
PARTY CLOTHES.
PARKING
Please could we ask that all parents park their cars on the church car park and walk
down the path to school. The school car park is only just big enough for the staff. Even
turning a car round in the school car park could be dangerous to a child. If anyone is
picking up your child please could you let them know where to park.
KS2 Carol Service Our junior children will lead us in a reflective Carol Service on
Friday 20th December at 11am in church. Please come and join us if you can.
NO SMOKING POLICY
Whilst we applaud and wish to encourage our parents who are trying to give up smoking,
please could we ask you not to use electronic cigarettes on the premise.
