Dear Candidate We are seeking to employ a teacher to lead our school’s music provision. The position has become available due to the imminent retirement of our music specialist who, for many years, has maintained a high standard of provision in this area. The successful candidate will be an enthusiastic, highly motivated and successful teacher who will become an integral part of this outstanding school. The candidate will be passionate about music and have the ability to inspire. A commitment to managing the peripatetic staff, and to extra curricular music provision, is essential. This is advertised as a full time post. The successful applicant will teach all of our classes’ music. There will also be an element of general class teaching (possibly one and a half days per week). Flexibility is essential to the role. We can offer the candidate an opportunity to be part of our supportive, forward thinking and enthusiastic staff. Our recent Ofsted report stated that pupil behaviour was exemplary and that children get along harmoniously across ages and wideranging backgrounds. There will be excellent opportunities for professional development within a very artistic community, through an, ever improving, creative curriculum. We are one of the leading junior schools in the provision of ICT and have a commitment to develop global links. Through our innovative approach we want to make learning memorable for all our pupils. The school presently holds a number of different quality marks, including Artsmark Gold, CPD Gold and ICT. Yours sincerely John Vousden Headteacher Downs Junior School, Rugby Road, Brighton, Sussex, BN1 6ED Tel: 01273 558422
