Museum Visit
On Thursday 26th March, year 3 went on a trip to Shrewsbury Museum and Art
Gallery. We went there because we wanted to find out about Stone Age to
Bone Age. We went to 3 different types of Gallery’s in the morning at the
Museum. The first room was the Egyptian room, first we looked at the dead
mummy, and it was really SCARY! It looked like it was alive! We got a backpack
with lots of clues inside, and then we looked to find the things the clues told us
to find.
Then we went into the Medieval Gallery in there were hats, a quiz to do and a
game where you had to put the houses where they used to be in Shropshire. In
this Gallery there was a round hut house with animal skin and the lady told us
about the animal skin. On the other side was a video about the olden days,
then there was a game (well 2 games).
The next room was the Roman Gallery. In there were some magnets which
were houses. There was a bed which was an olden day bed. There were more
activities and there was information about how they used to live on the walls.
There were little Lego figures that you had to find and by the Lego figures were
things on our list that we needed to find and we found them at last.
Then we went into the Animal Gallery and the workshop. There were animals
from years ago like Mammoths. There was also a wooden boat that people
would have rowed millions of years ago. Next we went to see some tools that
were found underground. After that we looked at the Mammoth and Elephant
teeth. Then we went to make a weapon out of flint and sticks. Then we looked
at the weapons and put them in order from oldest to newest. Finally, we
ground wheat to make flour. We put the wheat between 2 big round stones
and crushed it into flour. It took a long time and was hard work.
