Write your names on a piece of tape and put it on your pastel box. Only use your pastels and keep them all together so you always have a complete set. *Chalk pastels are great for blending together and layering on top of each other to create new colors. 1. Shade this sphere using warm colors (yellow-orange-red). Just like the example. Make sure you include highlights, mid tones, and shadows. 2. Shade this sphere using cool colors (blue – green – purple). 3. Practice hatching, cross hatching, and stippling in the spaces below. 4. Show me for these sketches along with your chalk pastel warm up for a QUIZ grade. Choose one layout to use as your final composition. 2. ___With a neutral colored pastel, lightly draw the main layout of your landscape on the final black paper (9x24). 3. ___Think backwards! Leave the black paper bare where you have the darkest areas! Build up the mid tones, then you will finish your work with distinct marks. We will create similar areas of broken color in the style of the Impressionists. Hatch and Crosshatch. Stipple in the style of Pointillism. Do this in various directions. Contour your strokes. This will all create a sense of motion. The lightest tones are the last ones that you will put on the paper.
