! Volume 39, Issue #2 Our Lady of the Island Council #6911 August 2015. Brothers: On July 4 although there was a threat of rain, it turned out to be a great day for a parade. Forty members plus children marched from Lakeshore Drive and Rose Street past the review stand in town. After the parade, all were invited to a delightful BBQ at the Council. Thanks to Brothers Dan Santoro and Dan Crossley for grilling such tasty burgers! Congratulations to the Red Hat Ladies of the Knights for being awarded a trophy for “Best Marching Unit”. They wore their colors and carried their umbrellas well! Despite tight fishing quarters and a short downpour aboard the “Captree Princess” a fun time was had by all. Thirty-nine adults and ten children came out for a fun day of fishing with family and friends, albeit most of the fish stayed home. Thanks to all who came out and helped with C and B raffle sales at Waldbaums and at the Town Street Fair. Please make every effort to attend the next business meeting for a special election. The nomination committee has nominated Peter Ruberti for the position as Deputy Grand Knight, as the chair has been vacated by Tony Toro. The committee has also nominated Lecturer John Guarino for the position as Warden. After the election the Grand Knight will appoint a new Lecturer. Please bring a canned or packaged food item to the next business or social meeting to help OLL Food Pantry feed the less fortunate. This will help our council achieve a “Food for Families Award” as well as a $100 refund from Supreme for every $500 or 1,000 lbs of food donated. Your support in Charity is the essence of true Knighthood. Thank you.
