Lazzeri, J. Martin-Comin, F. Rouzet
Excused: JR. Buscombe, A. Glaudemans

1. Welcome
By the Chair (AS), reminder of tasks (vice-chair, secretary,...)
For the current meeting, E. Lazzeri (EL) will act as vice-chair and F. Jamar (FJ) as secretary, in
charge of minutes.
[B. Krause comes in for a few minutes and explains the last moves in the Committee’s activities,
as defined by the ExCom and Advisory Council earlier meetings. The Committee members take
the information for further discussions.]
2. Approval of agenda
No further agenda point, with the exception of reports by AS for the Advisory Council meeting
and by O. Israel (OI) for the ESNM meeting, earlier the same day. Information from these
meetings is taken into account for further discussion.
3. Approval of minutes of previous meeting
Minutes of Vienna, March 2013
Approved without changes.
4. Other items
a. Guidelines for acquisition and interpretation (GL IV): progress (AL, EL)
AS reports that these guidelines are almost ready to be validated. They will be reviewed by J.
Buscombe for English editing. The last version should be sent to all members for final
validation beforehand. It is not clear at this time whether they can be published together
with SNM. Discussion on the basis of the final European draft will be undertaken with SNM.
The Committee favours co-publishing with SNM.
b. News from contacts with sister societies (clinical and Imaging (for ESR we will first contact
the EANM Ex Comm.)
In general, contacts with sister societies are not easy. The commitment that was informally
agreed upon for common guidelines is not easy to follow and reach (except for IBD for which
the publication is now out). Actually, no final decision was taken for any of the topics cited
underneath. Preliminary guidelines will nevertheless be published in January 2014, in an
issue of the Quarterly Journal of Nuclear Medicine, as a report of the pre-Congress
Symposium in Milan, in October 2012. Efforts should be made by each subtopic’s sponsor to
establish and guarantee this achievement. A coordinator for progress on this issue is
appointed: FJ ill be in touch with all involved people and the secretariat of EANM will be
copied in all cases.
- Diabetic foot (OI and R. Chakravartty (RC)) – finalize collaboration
- Vascular prostheses (FJ and F. Rouzet (FR)) -– finalize collaboration
- Endocarditis and vascular devices (Paola Erba (PE) and EL) – finalize collaboration
- Osteomyelitis and spondylodiscitis (AS and Andor Glaudemans (AG)) – finalize
collaboration
- IBD (closed, see published guidelines) – no further action

c. Development of EBM guidelines for item b):
- News from the secretariat and chair – contacts with other societies (AS): see above.
- Involvement of Committee members in (meta)-analyses (AG, RC, FR and FJ as
sponsor): in view of the discussion above on common guidelines, AG, RC and FJ are
confirmed in their task to make a comprehensive meta-analysis in their field of
interest, to contribute to the tasks cited as b). They will in all cases deserve
authorship in their respective field.
d. Communication: website, Facebook (RC)
RC made a great job in putting content in the website page of the Committee. More will
follow. Mainly, she managed to launch the Facebook page of the Committee, which may
become an exquisite way for communication and dissemination. RC informed the Committee
members about the technical aspects of this (which all Young people definitely now know, as
compared to their older colleagues......)
e. Communication: opportunities for webinars: seems premature. Depends on how the life
teaching sessions happen and succeed.
f. Education
- Symposium in Rome, December 2013: summary of organization, funding, support by
EANM, advertising, registration,...(AS, EL, JMC): The Symposium was endorsed by
EANM auspices and gets a very high interest (>120 participants at this time).
- Remote (from Vienna) organization of practical courses for cell labelling (OI, EL, JMC):
a principle agreement was got from the EANM Secretariat and ExCom, with full
support of the ESNM Chair, V. Lewington. One first organization is agreed upon at
this stage, as a kind of rehearsal. As previously agreed, the facility of Barcelona
(under supervision of JMC) is agreed as first location. A course curriculum will also be
submitted to EANM. Other locations will be defined for following years, in order to
favour several different European countries. It is intended to have rotation with
other centers, e.g. London, Paris, Brussels, Groningen, Roma, etc...pending on the
first experience in Barcelona. A local business plan is needed for the
expenses/income balance, and this will further be discussed between the Secretariat,
the Dean of ESNM and, from the Committee, JMC and OI.
- Courses in Vienna in the usual framework of EANM courses – preparation of
didactical material to be shared: all members agree on the principle to share slides
for free but a refund from EANM will also be welcome, that the committee members
can use for themselves. If slides for courses are to be paid for, a balance needs to be
made with the teachers’ fee. All members also agree that two teachers may be
enough but that three might be better.
- Courses in other countries (esp. Eastern countries), under the auspices of EANM in
volunteering countries: the Committee is waiting from requests from any
national/local Society, via the EANM secretariat. The Committee as such has no
budget for this.
g. Web-based database of papers used for EBM: how to build this up (AS, AG, FJ) – support of
EANM: the discussed point was put forward for the near future. Gathering data source (i.e.
paper reference is an idea, as well as putting together all presentations from the Committee
members at official EANM sessions. Copyright issues (except for CMEs) remain to be
discussed.
h. Composition of the Committee, from Gothenburg 2014 on: the following tasks have been
agreed upon from now on. (New appointments may be accepted at the interim Vienna
meeting in the spring or from the time of the Gothenburg’s Congress):
- Chair: AS
- Vice-Chair: EL
- Secretary: FR
- Representative to the Scientific Committee: OI

Representative to the Inter-committee meeting (with paediatrics and the Joint and
Bone Committees): EL
Ora Israel confirmed her wish to leave the Committee, for personal reasons, while also
mentioning her utmost satisfaction with what was achieved since the creation of the
formerly called Task Group. An appropriate substitute will be sought for, after thorough
discussions within the group of all received applications.

- Vienna: June (date to be defined) with members of other societies to finalize
