The course will utilize the computer estimating software, Accubid Pro. Course Goals: As a student who has successfully completed this course, you will be able to: 1. Understand the different types of electrical materials required in construction. 2. Utilize the NEC as the basis for material selection and installation in construction work. 3. Recognize the skills and knowledge required to be a successful electrical project manager. 4. Understand the methodology for common electrical construction systems. 5. Facilitate the understanding of the estimating process through the concept of tool and labor requirements. 6. Identify electrical systems and components on project plans and specifications. 7. Recognize materials required to build complete systems. 8. Prepare and implement organized take-off and estimate strategies. 9. Compile accurate bid summaries. 10. Recognize and present alternate and value engineering opportunities. 11. Complete accurate electrical estimates in a timely fashion. 12. Use Accubid Pro to prepare your estimates. Assignments are to be prepared and presented in an organized and professional manner. All assignments must be completed and turned in on time. Course Grading: The approximate point system (subject to change) is as follows: Attendance 25 @10 points E 250 Homework/Activities Varies 200 AOB Estimate 1 @200 points 200 Final Exam 1 @100 points 100 Total 750 Your grade will be based upon your participation and completion of all assigned work.
