Network Technology and Business Multimedia
The TBE Department offers bachelor’s degrees in Network Management Technologies, in
Business/Marketing Education Composite Teaching, and in Business/Multimedia Technologies.
The Department also offers an associate of applied science degree in Business/Multimedia
Technologies and in Network Management Technologies. These associate degrees are the first
two years of the equivalent bachelor’s degrees.
Minors are offered in Network Management Technologies, Business/Multimedia Technologies,
Business Education, and User Experience Design. There are also offerings in the department for
a Network Technologies Certification and Network Security Certification.
TBE Offerings
The TBE Department offers courses in document creation, spreadsheets, database
management, electronic presentations, telecommunications, local area networks, desktop
publishing, graphics, web design, business communications, multimedia, network certification,
and other related areas.
The Business/Multimedia Technologies Associate of Applied Science graduates are trained for
employment as web designers, information technology specialists, basic computer-aided design
specialists, and other multimedia-related positions. The Network Management Technologies
Associate graduates are trained for employment in many networking positions.
Network Management Technologies Major
Network Management Technologies major students study courses in network technology, local
area networks, network security, network certification, desktop publishing graphics database
management, business communications, multimedia, and other related fields. Cyber ethics and
policies are also studied.
Business/Marketing Education Composite Teaching Major
The Business/Marketing Education Composite Teaching qualifies graduates to teach business
and marketing-related subjects at the secondary school level. The business core includes
marketing, management, business law, and economics. Skills classes include multimedia, Web
page design, desktop publishing, networking, and basic computer operations. The marketing
portion of the degree includes sales, advertising, and other related business/marketing courses.
Business/Multimedia Technologies Major
The Business/Multimedia Technologies students gain knowledge of various multimedia
programs including graphics, drawing, video and audio editing, animation, and Web design.
Students also study current hardware, networking technology, and multimedia technologies.
Graduates are prepared as multimedia developers, desktop publishers, print/web designers,
office supervisors/managers, and software trainers.
Computer and Information Literacy
Testing for the Computer and Information Literacy requirement is housed in the TBE
Department. Courses for meeting parts A B and C of Computer and Information Literacy are
also offered in the department. The required parts of Computer and Information Literacy are:
Part A, Document Creation
Part B, Content, Internet Identity, and Device Management
Part C, Data Manipulation, Visualization, and Presentation
Part D, Information Literacy
The Computer and Information Literacy requirement is a campus-wide requirement for degree
seeking majors.
Paths to Success
All three majors listed above can be completed as a bachelor of science degree. All three majors
are under a 2-plus-2 program. Major students complete the requirements of an associate of
applied science degree and then the bachelor requirements. The requirements for the
associate’s degree and for the bachelor’s degree each take about two years of full-time study.
Graduates of the Department experience near 100 percent placement.
