Leeds Metropolitan University – Carnegie Sports Scholarships BACKGROUND The Carnegie Sports Scholarship Scheme was introduced in 2002. The aim of the scheme is twofold, firstly it is to ensure we support athletes who can significantly contribute to winning BUCS points for the University either individually or in the team environment, secondly it is to give scholarship holders the opportunity to develop their sporting performance alongside the pursuit of their academic studies through technical, pastoral and financial support. We’re looking for students who already compete at a very high level and have the desire & dedication to improve towards Senior World Class Performance Levels in their sport. Leeds Met is very proud of its sporting history & current high standing in the BUCS rankings which we want to maintain; therefore Carnegie Sports Scholars are expected to compete for the University in their sport in BUCS events. Junior or Senior International standard athletes from BUCS sports are encouraged to apply. Please follow this link to the BUCS website http://www.bucs.org.uk/page.asp?section=7&sectionTitle=Sports then click on the sports tab to see the list. N.B. Basketball & Men’s Rugby Union Scholarships are administered separately, details of the awards and who to apply to can be found at the end of this document.
