Dear Friend of the Junior League of Saint Paul,
I am a member of the Junior League of Saint Paul (JLSP), an all-women volunteer organization that
has served the Saint Paul community since 1917 by developing programs and providing volunteers to
improve the community as a whole.
On Saturday, February 28th, 2015, we will host our eighth annual Junior League of Saint Paul’s Blue
Jeans and Bling event at the Harriet Island Pavilion in Saint Paul. Our goal is to raise $25,000 to
support our organization’s premier service project, Backpack Buddies by providing food on weekends
when it may not be available for children whose primary source of nutrition is the school cafeteria.
Funds raised will also be used to further the training and leadership development of our volunteers.
We hope you will support us this year by donating an item to our 2015 Auction. In return for your gift,
the Junior League of Saint Paul will acknowledge your generosity in our Blue Jeans and Bling program,
which will be distributed to event attendees as well as all participants at our May 2015 Annual Meeting.
JLSP is comprised of almost 300 members, ranging in age from their early twenties to over eighty who
live, work, and volunteer in Saint Paul and the surrounding communities. Our members love to use this
event as an opportunity to invite friends, family, and fellow community members to learn about and
support JLSP’s activities.
Proceeds from Blue Jeans and Bling support JLSP's efforts to provide nutritional meals to 150
kindergarten and first graders at John A. Johnson Elementary School. By providing food items for the
weekend, the program bridges the nutritional gap for these students and improves their nourishment.
This helps ensure that their brains are fueled for learning in the classroom!
In the 2013-2014 school year, we provided over 21,000 weekend meals. Of the children we serve, 98%
qualify for free or reduced lunch.
To participate, please send your donation to the Junior League of Saint Paul with the completed
enclosed auction form. We would also be very happy to coordinate our picking up your donation.
If you are interested in attending the event or learning more about the Junior League of Saint Paul,
please visit our website at www.jlsp.org, or contact Katie Pan, 2015 Blue Jeans and Bling Chairperson
at bling@jlsp.org.
You can help us enrich our Saint Paul community with your support!
On behalf of the Junior League of Saint Paul, and those who will directly benefit from your gift, we
humbly thank you for considering this request.
Regards,
Abby Misukanis
