CONDITIONS OF PLAY – SNOW CURRIE COMPETITION – 2015
The competition shall be held between invited clubs as determined by the existing clubs at a
meeting held with competing clubs in the 2013 series. Clubs which have been invited are :

Subject to the number of clubs agreeing to participate in the 2015 series the completion shall
consist of qualifying games and a final series.
The series shall be conducted with seven qualifying rounds with seven clubs nominating.
The series shall commence in May and end in November 2015. The schedule is generally drawn
up around 3 weekly games to ensure the competition does not clash with West Moreton events.
Playing days will be scheduled for Sundays and it is preferred that all teams play on the
scheduled day.
Club Side
A club side will consist of 14 players competing as 2 pairs, 2 triples & 1 fours team.

The host club shall provide an umpire for the day
Governing Rules
The games shall be played in accordance with the Laws of the Sport of Bowls – Crystal Mark
3rd Edition & domestic regulations for Australia
Early Cessation of a Game
Where the umpire determines that a game should no longer be completed due to circumstances
applying at the time a game shall be considered constituted where at least one half of the intended
ends plus one end have been completed.
Where the players determine an early cessation of the game then the team(s) receiving a
surrender from the other team(s) shall be considered to have won the remaining non-played ends
for the purpose of calculating ends won for the completion ladder positions.
Competition Scoring
Points will be allocated as
·
1 point for each rink won
·
½ point for each tied rink
·
3 points for the side achieving the most points from rink wins
In the event that both clubs have an equal number of points following the determination of the rink
results then the club with the highest aggregate score shall be the winner.
If a winner can still not be determined then a countback of ends shall be applied with the club
achieving the greater number of ends shall be the winner. (see also tied game – finals rounds
below)
Competition Ladder
A ladder shall be produced and distributed to all clubs at the conclusion of each round.
The ranking precedence shall be :
Total points gained
Ends won
Percentage based on shots for and against
Eligibility
The event shall be an open competition with both male & female participation as determined
appropriate by club selectors
Players shall be fully financial members of the club for which they are competing
A player shall be tied to a club for the duration of the competition when he/she first competes for
that club. Substitutes shall be an exception to this rule (see below)
Where a club plays a player who is ineligible under these rules they shall forfeit to the opponent
club the 3 points awarded to the winning club and 1 point for any rink that the ineligible player has
competed on the day.
A player must have played in at least one qualifying game to be eligible to play in the final series.
Substitute Players
Where a club is unable to field a complete side they may request the club against which they are
competing to provide substitute players if they are available.
Any substitute players shall be recorded on the scorecard with the letters (SUB) beside their name
Substitute players remain eligible to play for their own designated club and are not tied to the club
for which they competed while playing as a substitute
Substitute players may not compete as skippers
Team Forfeit
In the event that sufficient numbers of players, including substitute players, cannot be found then
the club shall advise the competing club that it intends to forfeit a rink and shall identify whether
that will be a pairs, triples or fours combination.
Such advice must be provided at least 2 days prior to the scheduled event
It should be noted that a team may have the option of providing only 3 players to compete against
4 players in the fours event. Where this does occur rule 46.2.2.2 shall apply “One fourth of the
total shots scored (including decimal places) by each defaulting team shall be deducted from their
score after the game is finished”
Finals Eligibility
The top two clubs in each section as at the end of the qualifying rounds shall play off in a finals
round to determine the overall winner
In the event that clubs are tied with an equal number of points at the end of the qualifying games
their position shall be determined by percentage using the following formula :
(Shots for / shots against x 100)
The club with the higher percentage shall have precedence
It is proposed to split an eight club competition into two sections providing four clubs each. This
will provide for a home and an away game for each club. The semi finals shall be determined as :

Winner of Section A v Second Section B

Winner of Section B v Second Section A
The two Semi finals shall be held at the Mount Crosby Bowls Club on 1 November:

Winner of Section A v Second Section B – commencing at 9.30am
·
Winner of Section B v Second Section A – commencing at 9.30am
The grand final finals shall be held at the Rathdowney Memorial Bowls Club on 8 November
commencing at 11.00am.
Tied Game – Semi & Major Finals
In the event that both clubs have an equal number of points following the determination of the rink
results then the club with the highest aggregate score shall be the winner.
If a winner can still not be determined then a countback of ends shall be applied with the club
achieving the greater number of ends shall be the winner.
If during a semi final both sides remain tied after a countback of ends then the side which finished
higher at the conclusion of the qualifying series shall be the winner.
If during the grand final both sides remain tied after a countback of ends then the side having the
greater shots aggregate based on shots scored in the semi and grand final shall be the winner.

The competition has been sponsored by the Currie family with sufficient funding to allow the
following prize distribution

Administration
The Rathdowney Memorial Bowls Club shall be the competition administrator for the 2015
competition
Score Cards & event results shall be mailed or handed to Barry Cooke (Rathdowney Bowls Club).

Score cards should be mailed within 3 days of an event being completed
Clubs shall be notified by email of the results ladder as amendments are made to the ladder
following the receipt of score cards
Each club is to notify their preferred email address for the distribution of results & other pertinent
information
Any disputes between clubs which require wider consideration may be referred to the Competition
Administrator via the Competition Secretary (email bardot46@yahoo.com.au)
Nomination & Playing Fees
Clubs wishing to participate in the event shall forward a cheque for $ 180 to Barry Cooke, 119137 Merton Close, Kooralbyn, Qld 4285 no later than 30 June 2015. Cheques are to be made
out to North Ipswich Bowls Club as this club holds the Snow Currie competition account.
Each club may levy its own players an appropriate green fee for the day. Green fees shall be
retained by each club whether they be visitor or home club. It is recommended a charge of $10
per game be levied by the club however it is stressed that as each club retains its green fees for
its own players then this may be varied as it suits the club.
Final series – green fees of $10 per participating player shall be payable to the host club for each
final.
Host Club Responsibility
Provide 5 rinks suitable for play on the day & prepared for an 11.00am start or earlier as agreed
between the clubs
Provide lunch for all participants
Provide an umpire for the day
