Paula Lynne Jett White, 58, of Lewisport, went home to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on
Tuesday January 20, 2015. She was born in Norfolk, VA on October 29th, 1956. She had been fighting
cancer since 2008. She was a devoted wife, daughter, mother, grandmother, aunt, cousin, coworker,
church member and friend. She loved spending time with her family and friends, and her grandchildren
were her absolute joy. Paula possessed a true servant’s heart and she was well-known for giving of
herself and making others part of her extended family. Paula was a member of Lewisport Baptist
Church, where she helped with children’s ministry. She worked as a Special Education Instructional
Assistant at Hancock County Middle School.
She was preceded in death by her father; Raphael Jett. Survivors include her husband of 39 years; Roy
White, two sons; John and Daniel & Sarah White, two daughters; Erin & Jake Hardy and Laura Elder, all
from Lewisport. She is survived by nine grandchildren; Jackson, Collin, Kaitlyn, Nolan, and Brycen Elder,
Hunter Hardy and Isaac, Isabella and Luke White. Paula is also survived by her mother and stepfather;
Gloria Jett and Barton Simmons of Brighton, Tennessee, two brothers; Steve and Kathleen Jett, and
Kenneth Jett, of Gainesville, Florida, and a sister, Mary Jett and Tim Burk, of Hawesville. Paula leaves
behind numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Taylor-Wood Funeral Home in Lewisport. Visitation
will be at the funeral home Thursday from 2:00 pm until 8:00 pm and Friday 9:00 am until 1:00 pm.
Paula’s funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm Friday at Lewisport Baptist Church with Bro. Bob White
officiating. Burial will follow in Lewisport Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be
made to the Paula J White Memorial Scholarship Fund. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
