Job Description for Ogden Physics Teaching Fellow This new post would suit an experienced teacher and involves a split role, with 50% of the post holder’s time spent delivering quality teaching to all senior Key Stages at Norwich School and the remaining 50% of time devoted to Physics outreach and partnership projects in Norfolk. The following is the job description associated with this role. It involves, but is not strictly limited to: At Norwich School: Inspiring, innovative and committed teacher of Physics at all levels Detailed knowledge and understanding of Physics up to A Level, including practical work Ability to develop the skills, confidence and independence of pupils Ability to help prepare pupils for university interview including Oxbridge Willingness to help with science clubs and activities for all ages from 7 to 18 Ability to teach some Mathematics would be an advantage In partnership with other schools (and with the freedom to determine how, and what can be effectively run): building effective partnerships with selected state schools and secondary and primary levels; to take the lead on the Norwich School Saturday Ad Astra Physics Scheme, to increase the numbers of Years 9 and 10 involved and to increase the frequency and range of sessions; administrating and running termly twilight Inset sessions at Norwich School, for both specialist and non-specialist teachers of Physics, on subject pedagogy, exam technique and practical ideas; through team teaching and observation in partner schools, the Ogden Physics Teacher Fellow might offer advice to specialist and non-specialist teachers of Physics on strategies for the effective teaching of particular topics; devising, organising and running half-termly Saturday morning ‘master class’ sessions at Norwich School for gifted and talented year 10 and 11 pupils from partner schools; devising, organising and running enrichment and master class sessions at Norwich School for Key Stage 5 pupils from partner schools, this would also include substantial input to the planning, oversight and teaching of Physics on the Norwich School University Summer School; devising, organising and running competitive physics-themed events at Norwich School for partner school pupils in Key Stages 3, 4 and 5; engage experts to prepare high-level talks (on topics such as Waves, Quantum Physics, Medical Physics and Careers in Physics) and coordinate the delivery of the talks to partner school pupils; devising, organising and running Saturday/holiday sessions at Norwich Lower School’s laboratories for primary age children and Inset/CPD for primary teachers; liaising with regional and national Physics promotion organisations (such as the National Space Academy) in the running of specialist physics-themed master classes and large scale CPD events (such as Stimulating Physics Network conferences) at Norwich School; evaluating the effectiveness of the various Physics outreach/partnership projects on a halftermly basis; writing annual reports on the various Physics outreach/partnership projects (which will internally feed into Norwich School’s end of year Governors’ review, and externally be used by the Ogden Trust in its appraisal of the work of the Norwich School Physics Department.
