Alan Pacek and Bruce Holsten commented on Alan Pacek's link. Pat Efird for mayor of Carolina Beach I have voted three times against changes that were initiated by another candidate for Mayor in our R-3 single family home zoning which would open it up to multi-unit development. This same council member is currently not in compliance with our zoning code and ordinances in the R-3 single family home district because h...e built and rented out apartments in his garage. This council member states he is the most knowledgable member on council around planning and zoning and yet when he built these apartments a few years back he didn't get a building permit, an electrical permit or a plumbing permit. That just isn't right.See More LikeUnlike · · 40 minutes ago · * * Carolyn Denton Thomas and Mark Farmer like this. * o Mark Farmer If I still lived there, she would have my vote. Tuesday at 6:07am · LikeUnlike o Bruce Holsten I truly can't believe you wrote this, Alan. This isn't a popularity contest!! This is about who can actually accomplish and sustain the hard "daily" work necessary to keep the Island moving forward. You know better than anyone where we were four years ago, and who had the "hands on leadership and vision" to drag the Island into the 21st Century as a Tourist Destination and successful business community. Don't let your ego get in the way of common sense. Pat has done nothing more than show up for council meetings, doesn't serve on or attend critical county or town committees, and rarely shares her vision or views, if she has any. And she can't even send or respond to an email, let alone manage her Facebook account, which is being done behind the scenes by others. You know what's best for the Island and who has the courage and energy and willingness to invest in the Island's future, and it's not Pat. The next Mayor needs to do a lot more than just "show up for meetings," they need to get involved and sadly, Pat has chosen the path of least resistance in her long service to the Island. 3 hours ago · LikeUnlike o Alan Pacek Bruce, you are right, this is not a popularity contest. Remember this election for Mayor is about electing the best person for the job for the next 2 years. That person is Pat Efird. Pat's continuity of service to the community and integrity to look-out for the interests of the overall community make her an easy choice for me. To sustain the positive momentum of Carolina Beach, the next Mayor needs not to be able to listen, reason, and compromise to do what is best. The other candidates for mayor... well - they are better at telling instead of listening, arguing instead of reasoning, and fighting to win - instead of knowing when to compromise. All good attributes for a contractor/project manager - just not what's needed for the next Mayor of Carolina Beach. 40 minutes ago · LikeUnlike * Write a comment...
