Dear Parent/Guardian Holy Trinity has been actively looking at ways to enhance the efficiency and safety issues relating to vehicle traffic during morning arrival and after school pickup. Paradigm Transportation Solutions Limited was retained to undertake a Traffic and Parking Assessment. The issues that were addressed include the following: 1. Lack of and inefficient use of curb side capacity for student pick-up/drop-offs by private vehicles. 2. Extensive queuing in the parking lot in approaching pick-up/drop-off areas 3. Queuing issues exiting the west driveway. 4. Curb side time used by parked vehicles when parents disembark the vehicle to walk children into the school using curb-side capacity for longer periods. 5. Vehicles parking in the circulation aisle parallel to those in the pickup/drop-off lane creating congestion and pedestrian safety concerns. Traffic counts were conducted at the two existing driveways on Grange Road during Wednesday, June 17, 2015 between the hours of 8:00 to 9:30 AM and 2:30 to 4:00 PM to capture activity during peak arrival and departure times. As a result of the study and in consultation with the Wellington County District School Board the following alternative measures will be put into place this school year. - Designated staff parking - signage will be posted designating visitor and staff parking spots. This will allow for more efficient use of vacant parking for some of the drop-off/pick-up activity should the drop-off/pick-up lane be full. With the drop-off lane potentially accommodating 10 vehicles, parking for up to 21 pick-up/drop-off vehicles can be accommodated - No left hand turns to be made out of both the west and east parking lots between 8:00am - 9:15am and 3:00pm - 4:00pm ** the middle turning lane will be blocked off during these times. We expect that ALL vehicle traffic will abide by these new guidelines. While initial guidance will be given as we transition to these new guidelines, by-law traffic enforcement officers may be monitoring traffic violators after an initial grace period.
