POSITION REPORTS TO: Systems Quality Manager
POSITION PURPOSE (What this position is responsible for accomplishing)
Reporting to the Quality Systems Manager, this position is responsible for performing quality
engineering activities in support of the contracts, engineering, manufacturing, and procurement
departments as well as overall support to the quality organization. The Systems Quality
Engineer also provides guidance and technical support to inspectors and operators in
conducting related activities and tasks. This position is focused on system level improvements
that are outputs of product reviews, contract flowdowns, and internal audits.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND BASIC DUTIES FOR THIS JOB
The Quality Engineer supports the following key tasks and responsibilities.






Provides advice and oversees Product Verification activities (i.e., preparation of packages
and parts to source inspectors.)
Supports Quality system improvements through corrective and preventive actions
Support procedure development, integration, and training
Perform internal auditing to contractual requirements and system procedures
Increase internal and external customer satisfaction
Other responsibilities/tasks as may be assigned by management

PERFORMANCE MEASUREMENTS (What does the employee need to do to be successful?)
The Systems Quality Engineer supports projects and assignments within the requirements of
Licensor, Customer, Regulatory and Quality Management Systems constraints. They shall
conduct business in a professional manner while maintaining effective relationships with all
stakeholders. Additionally, the performance of Quality System Engineers shall be judged upon
the following criteria:




Ensure contract compliance throughout organization
Support root cause and corrective action including investigation and process
development/improvement
Prepare waivers and interface to customers
Provide technical support to inspectors and operators
QUALIFICATIONS
EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION:
AA/AS Degree preferred, but not required. Quality
Engineering professional certification(s) a plus.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE:
The Systems Quality Engineer will possess a thorough knowledge of the aerospace/DOD
industry and regulatory environment to include CFR part 21 and 145. Must have excellent
communication skills with the ability to organize activities and execute tasks including
interpersonal skills necessary to develop and maintain relationships at all levels to solve
problems and facilitate results.











Knowledge of ISO 9001:2000, AS9100, FAA regulations and industry standards
Advanced problem solving; analyzing, investigating and following up using six sigma tools
Knowledge of business systems including ERP, Microsoft Office, etc.
Process improvement strategies (process oriented)
Ability to develop and build a strong team environment, establishing effective relationships
with the wide spectrum of team members and stakeholders
Ability to multitask and stay focused on tasks to completion, diligence and attention to detail
Easily identify and resolve obstacles to keep tasks on track
Apply experience to determine the best approaches and courses of action
Being innovative in tactical matters, breaking down barriers, proposing alternate solutions
Ability to communicate and negotiate, using diplomacy, and managing conflict

Office environment, shop floor visits, air travel. Position requires some irregular working hours,
some evenings, and occasional weekend work. May also require some travel.
