Component Release Engineer Salary: 75k-105k, Bonus up to 15% (2012 Bonus was 15%) The Component Release Engineer (CRE) is responsible for design of components and sub-assemblies used in our Drivetrain Systems Products. This position requires the engineer to work as part of a matrix engineering organization to design and release products. The engineer must be able to understand and rationalize the fit and function of individual parts with in a system or sub-system. The engineer must be capable of working closely with other CRE's and program engineers to design and validate products to requirements. Component Release Engineer must work with manufacturing disciplines, GSM and suppliers to release parts into production. The candidate may be responsible for commodities such as fasteners, bearings, seals, shafts, pumps, or castings. KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES Understand design parameters surrounding Automotive Powertrain components Create process standards such as: Design Criteria checklists, Design calculation standards, Design Review material; maintain and present these documents as necessary Perform engineering analysis on components and present rationale to program team Perform component and sub-system performance simulations with Mat Lab software Create and maintain DFMEAs for components Create technical criteria for supplier selection and participate in the selection process Provide consistent technical conduit to the GSM SDE’s and GCM’s Work with suppliers and internal manufacturing to assure feasibility of designed components Approve and release engineering drawings Create ADVP&R to validate component changes and work with technician to conduct testing on components Ensure that component related testing is included in assembly level ADVP&R for new release Analyze components for wear and durability Write test reports relating to the outcome of tests performed Promote component re-use through knowledge of the global component family Review / Approve internal and external change requests Provide technical support for component issues arising in validation or warranty Provide cost reduction ideas for their respective component families Provide opportunities for new technology approaches in the component family Special Assignments - Responsible for support and completion of special assignments as required EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE B.S. Mechanical Engineering Will consider a variety of years of experience; 5+ years of related experience required Mechanical Aptitude/Technical background Good analytical skills for designing and analyzing components and sub-systems Computer experience Simulation experience with software such as Mat Lab Self-directed/self-motivated.
